We like beer festivals and the Pleasant Hills Blues and Brews is pretty fun. Here is more info:

Also, summer time is when all the county fairs are happening. The Alameda County Fair started yesterday:

Reno isn't the Bay Area but it is our home away from home. The best brew fest ever is tomorrow. This will be my 11th year in a row:

If you don't mind a tip from an old-timer around these parts...find something on WOOT to buy so you can have voting privileges. Then you can be one of the cool kids :-)

Although it's too late for this year's Maker Faire you can check it out next year. It's probably impossible to experience all the awesome but you can sure try.

@zuiquan: We went to Maker Faire this year! It was awesome. On buying something on woot! I love all the products but am waiting for that one thing that I just can't live without. Then I will be cool ;)

@lovebiandesigns: Awesome! Have you driven down to Gilroy for the Garlic Festival? I always enjoyed that one when we lived in Monterey.

@zuiquan: I haven't done that one yet! Is it stinky?! haha.

@lovebiandesigns: Yes, but in a good way. Garlic ice cream. Mmmm.

I've always wanted to make it to Folsom Street Fair, but so far my timing has been off.

@lovebiandesigns: http://gilroygarlicfestival.com/ is always awesome. Garlic ice cream sounds nasty, but it's freakin awesome, particularly when they serve it in a half cantaloupe. Lots of great music/bands, lots of artists, some really great food (I had my first ostrich & gator kabob at the garlic festival)

California state fair is fun too, they actually have a great brewfest one evening, and usually some decent entertainment.
You just missed brewfest at Raley Field in Sac 2 weeks ago, though.
Sac music festival (formerly Jazz festival) was a month ago, so maybe next year.... http://sacmusicfest.com/

forgot to mention, Folsom Rodeo is coming up, and if Reno is an option, Hot August Nights there is always incredible, bur make sure you have reservations before going, EVERYTHING gets booked early.

Finally, there's nascar racing in Sonoma this weekend. One of the few road courses they run, too. I'll be there Sunday for the Toyota/savemart 350!

Although it is not until September, make plans now for the not to be missed Monterey Jazz Festival.

Need a jazz fix before then ? Zip down HWY 1 on a Sunday to Half Moon Bay. The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society has weekly jazz performances that are superb !

The Fillmore Jazz Festval is coming up in a couple of weeks. http://www.fillmorejazzfestival.com/
And if Reno isn't too far for you, check out the Reno Balloon Races. http://www.renoballoon.com/
