Do you know about adblock? You really ought to try it. Unless you need to look at ads for some reason.

I second the recommendation of adblock. It's extremely helpful. I rarely see any ads and only on extremely rare occasions have had an issue where it blocked something it shouldn't

I'll see your Adblock, and raise you a NoScript!

Seriously. Get NoScript.

What you might need is Flashblock. I haven't heard any music from ads on Woot and I have Adblock turned off for the whole site. So, try Flashblock. I'd upgrade Firefox also; the current release is 19. However, I don't think that's related to your problem.

Firefox with AdBlock and NoScipt works for me.

You can not block ads, how will anyone make money? Think of the children!
I can not wait until it is illegal to skip internet ads.

AdblockPlus, FlashBlock, and DonotTrackMe are my trifecta.

There's an ad? With [groan] sound, even?

Never noticed it.

Ad Block. And Ghostery. Love 'em both.

AdBlock here as well. Ad-free, including annoying sound.
