Not a thing. Seriously. Just another day.

vote-for14vote-against

I wish I could get my mother something, but she's been gone for a while.

[Edit] On a lighter note, @thunderthighs is posting mother's day deals like crazy, over on the Fresh tab. Some of them are some serious winners, too (nobody likes everything, not even if the danged thing is pink).

i personally am STUMPED this Mother's Day. I normally have an idea of what kitchen/garden/spa-related item to get her if i can't think of anything else, but i have NO idea this year.

She has a 'thing' for Betty Boop stuff (long story) but I'm hoping to be un-creative in a new way (meaning to skip the currently known Betty Boop obsession, as she has so much). Have there been any new development in the coop garden/kitchen/spa-related world in the last year that she won't have yet? /crossing my fingers!

@smtatertot13: You are going to hurt me for this one. There is an extremely beautiful, very hardy, antique rose, called Betty Boop. I have one, and it's one of my favorites. It's disease resistant, it survived our sneak attack freeze in February (some of my roses did not), and since it's an older rose, it doesn't have to be cut to keep blooms on it. Just stick in the ground, fertilize now and then, and enjoy.

You might also consider a gardening kneeling stool, if she doesn't have one.

vote-for9vote-against

@shrdlu: i know NOTHING about gardening, and definitely NOTHING about roses. Is this something i can get in my rural area? Or would you recommend I order online? I'm always fine with both, as long as I get the gift I want :)

vote-for10vote-against

@smtatertot13: Take a gander on line. If you have a decent nursery in your area, I'd call them first, but yes, you can order this online too. When I hit google to make sure there were some decent pictures. I saw at least ten stores wanting to sell them, and I wasn't even really looking. Take a look at it via Google. It's a really pretty rose, and if your mother likes roses, this is a winner.

I was amazed at how big it got in one season. I've cut it down to the ground this year just because I wanted everything to start at the same level, and it's already bushed out, and is heading up to 18 inches (or perhaps two feet). I can hardly wait until it starts blooming.

vote-for10vote-against

@shrdlu: hell, combining the betty boop and the garden can't go wrong. i don't expect our one place here to carry what you're referencing, but i will definitely check before i head to the online world - i love spending money online on the "better" prices, but i also love supporting local shops first :)

photobooks of the grand kids!

vote-for8vote-against

@shrdlu: Its been 3 weeks; I was drawn to this question though its a one I won't be asking anymore.

vote-for4vote-against

Not sure, but it seems lots of recommendations from wooters for ocheri items.

vote-for5vote-against

A case of cheap wine and someone to drink it with.

vote-for6vote-against

Sorry if I go OT. This isn't meant to be a downer nor am I looking for sympathy, my mom is a thousand miles away in an urn in a mausoleum.

I'll tell her happy Mother's day as I have for the last five years and when I visit I'll bring a Dairy Queen hot fudge sundae to eat with her.

vote-for2vote-against

I'll probably forget to call and catch grief for it until next Mother's Day. But seriously, as others have said, just another day.

vote-for5vote-against

@smatertot, get her a ceramic knife. Everyone who uses mine begs me to get them one. I suggest a Kyocera if you can afford it.

My mother is getting a check and a card, like she does for most holidays. Unless I see some cute little thing she might like/needs, and then I might splurge and buy her a gift as well. We shall see.

vote-for6vote-against

This year I think I'll send Mom flowers, take her out to eat for her favorite dish (fried Crab Claws, yum!) and give her an Amazon gift card for the Kindle I got her last month for her birthday.

a kick to the face or a push down the stairs.

vote-for4vote-against

@shrdlu: Ah yes, I know what you mean. Even if we had words or disagreements, I always gave her something - thing, my time and a card too.

@klozitshoper: Please do NOT downvote your comments.

vote-for3vote-against

@georgeharrisonisgod: I don't know how to tattle over here, but someday, child, you will regret your statement.

@klozitshoper: It's easy. Make a copy of the timestamp on his comment, thusly:

Then go up to the top of the thread, and hit the Tattle button, and say you're reporting a comment, and past in that link. I do want to point out that, while offensive, it didn't really violate any rules, and I doubt it'll get deleted. I wouldn't waste your time. Karma's a bitch. I tend not to vote up deals by people who go out of their way to be mean (and I remember these things).

vote-for5vote-against

@shrdlu: Thanks so much. I never knew that. I agree, I probably would not tattle really on someone's opinion or feeling, because as you say it is what it is and they must be comforable with it. Too bad if family relations get to that point, but I am not naive enough to think everyone is in a grand, happy family situation. I know, too off topic and too long winded.

vote-for4vote-against

Probably something from bath and body works...she likes those kind of things

vote-for2vote-against

@shrdlu: I have recently lost my moms, so I guess I could get her an urn, or at least something better than the cardboard box she came home in.

vote-for3vote-against

I was thinking about getting her chocolates. Not really the cheap kind, more like the boxes that come with 10 pieces that cost $20. You could always treat her to dinner, or get a mug. I know most people like drinking something in the morning.

vote-for2vote-against

Will there be Random Crap featured in time for delivery by Mother's Day? If so, that.

vote-for4vote-against

A gift certificate to her favorite restaurant and my regrets that she lives too far away to have dinner with her :-(

vote-for4vote-against

I'm getting my mom an assortment of Body Shop goodies, courtesy of the recent groupon.

$50 best buy gift card from jumbowoot?

vote-for4vote-against

I got a good one - a home theater cd player that's JUST a cd player (and only one cd, at that), something she's complained about not having for quite a while now.

My gf's mom is an accountant so I was thinking about getting her the novel "The Pale King".

For my own mom I think I want to get her a roku or some other netflix device.

vote-for5vote-against

Leak frogs and a screaming monkey. My mom likes to stay up with the trends and be the first in her group to have the "newest technology." A clerk at best buy commented on how nice her flip phone was and she opened it up to the keyboard and said, "It is nice and I really know how to use it. Want me to call you or text??" The look on his face was priceless. Not bad for an 83 year old beauty. I love you mom if you happen to read this.

vote-for3vote-against

I was thinking about a gym membership. My mom is retired, still fairly active and on those rainy days she won't have to fight the geriatric crowd at the mall. Planet Fitness is only $10 a month in our area. It's something that she would probably use twice a week but could probably justify not spending the money on. I can just read her thoughts, "Why spend money to go to a gym when I can just walk around the block a couple of times?" Love you mom!

vote-for2vote-against

Good ole' Massage Envy gift card. She loves them.

vote-for2vote-against

I'm getting her flower bulbs, hollandbulbfarms.com has some nice packaged things for moms and free shipping

vote-for3vote-against

A really, REALLY good moisturizer. Cremation is so hard on the skin.

(I've probably offended half the Deals populace, but I know it will make my Dad smile & probably make my Roomba act very oddly-- I "inherited" it from their house. She loved a good deal! This is going to be a difficult Mother's Day.)

vote-for0vote-against

I'm looking for a netbook for her.
I was hoping to find a good deal on one on woot but so far no luck.

vote-for1vote-against

I got her a bath tub caddy. Unfortunately it did not arrive in time.
