6th row for gallagher, 1st row for the Dan Band, front row phish, second section back, 50 yard line for the chargers, 32 rows back from the padres dugout, luxury box at padres game, floor seats for billy joel, floor seats for cirque de Soleil.

I'm sure there's more but can't think of them right now.

Fun question! Brought back a lot of memories. :-)

Front row for Barenaked Ladies in Colorado Springs.

Second row for Elvis Costello on the Painted from Memory tour, also known as "spitting distance". As you've probably seen, Elvis has a gap between his front teeth. Between songs, he took a drink of water, then started talking. I was baptized.

Just 3 weeks ago I was given 4 free tickets to the Diamond Dugout at Citizens Bank Park (Phillies Stadium). They had no price written on them but from looking online, I found out they cost about $340 each. I probably couldn't even sit there again even if I had the money. Apparently, the seats are for the part owners of the team.

I knew ahead of time that the seats would be amazing. I sat in the second row behind home plate and was on TV during every pitch. The surprise came when I sat down and my own personal waitress came over and asked me for my order- in that section, the first 3 rows get unlimited free food and drinks. I instantly regretted drinking crappy beer in the parking lot while I could have been in my seat sipping Johnny Walker Blue. Instead, I just stuck with sushi LITs.

I guess a job that prohibits cash tips can have its perks after all!

I've been pinned against the front row barrier during many concerts.

I have never gone to a show where you were required to stand/sit in a certain place. What fun is that?

I went to an Art Alexakis (Everclear) solo show a few years back and stood 3 feet from him the entire time. It was mostly an acoustic show, so it wasn't so bad.

I prefer the back, honestly. You get better sound quality back there and don't end up deaf for days afterwards.

Also, in case anyone wants to mention "How COOL!" crowdsurfing is, try being the tallest guy in the audience and see how many times you get kicked in the head. I've stolen a lot of shoes from annoying crowdsurfers.

As far as games go, my brother gets Braves tickets from work all the time for 2nd row just behind the 1st base line dugout. I've been invited but it's baseball (almost as bad as basketball)

Third row back, center, Aqualung, Jethro Tull, Berkeley Theater, 1970. They were free tickets (just ours, not the concert).

Wonder how many of you reading this were even alive when that concert happened?

It seems like a million years ago, and just yesterday, all at the same time.

Now I have season tickets to a local symphony, and I sit in the front row, but it's really not the same accomplishment.

3rd row center at a Gallagher show many, many years ago. Plastic panchos, the whole bit.

Front row center for Wynton Marsalis at the world renowned (lol) Perot Theatre in...sometime around 1996.
Fourth row center for Gallagher in '97.
Just off stage, in the wings, for a couple of Kenny Wayne Shepherd concerts. We're related, so I have just enough of an "in" to get backstage. That's how I met Jerry Cantrell.

@TT: We decided to leave the ponchos and just wear hospital scrubs. Close to a dozen people, the entire fourth row center section, all wearing scrubs. He even called us out during the show...did the poncho help?

I had a 4th row lower level seat in the Verizon Center for many Washington Capitals games during the 2008-2009 season - it was an utterly fantastic view of the ice, right behind the photography pit and VIP rows. I still enjoy games in the uppers... but that was an amazing seat.

I had 12th row for U2's Achtung Baby tour. It was phenomenal.

We were center stage, third row for Cirque du Soleil in Orlando. You can see EVERYTHING (literally) at that range!

Either front row at a Peter Frampton concert a couple years back or 5 rows back at Van Halen which was CRAZY it’s a tossup but I would go with VH!

Front row on the rail for a half-dozen Metallica shows. Hard to describe how cool that is to someone who's never done it for your own favorite bands, but those moments of eye contact and direct interaction are awesome. Completely different experience from just being back in the crowd.

Front row Prodigy-house of Blues. One of the two American spots they played that year :-)

I can only remember one concert that fundamentally changed the way I look at the world today. I was situated in the highly sought after front row center section, 'standing room only' at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. The Misfits had just left the stage, immediately following the brief post-encore and a band I had only vaguely heard of was up next. As the headlining band's stagehands rolled their equipment out and started to hastily set up, I found myself wondering why most of the band's equipment appeared to be covered and taped down layers of 5mm heavy duty plastic and what was the intended purpose of the huge array of tubes, the industrial grade pumps and the tantalizing glow from the candy apple red of the emergency cut off switch. Following sound check, the lights flickered and there I was, face to face with GWAR for the hardest, most rewarding ride of my life. My hearing returned two days later and my skin was stain free after two weeks. I can't imagine anything better.

SRO for the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. 10th row for Crowded House a couple years ago. Ice level near center ice at Houston Aeros.

I worked as a bouncer for many years in Columbus OH and met over 100 artists in person (autographs, etc). My favorite place to work was Newport Music Hall, it was more of a "hole in the wall" then a huge stadium that seems less personal. I drank coffee spiked with Baileys at a place called "Insomnia" with the guys from Linkin Park (right before they really got famous)-- between that and meeting THE Prince of Darkness, I definitely had fun.

They only paid us $6/hour, but the "perks" were well worth it. Other than getting to meet just about everyone who played; there were other perks as well :)

in September 2011, Bryan Adams was doing his "Bare Bones" tour in Melbourne, Australia. I had a seat inside my house in central Alabama nearly 10,000 miles away. Without having to leave the planet, that is just about the best you can do with Bryan Adams. Good times.

I got to sit front row center at a Lang Lang concert. He's one of the greatest pianists in the world, so being able to be right there and see his hands moving...it's was amazing!

Best seats at a concert, Elton John for the opening of Phillips Arena in Atlanta. I bought the tickets late and had no idea they had just opened a new section of seats at the last minute. The stage was a low platform on the floor. We sat front row about 20 feet up directly behind the stage, close enough I could read the label on Sir Elton's soda can. Amazing to be able to see his hands at work on the keyboard.

Best seats at a sporting event were tickets to see the Marlins play when their first season. My boss owned a skybox which also included "Founder's Seats". We sat first row, right behind the home on-deck circle. The players would chat with us while they were on-deck. It was like watching a little league game! Also got to go to the skybox on a couple of occasions for Marlins and Dolphins games.

Front Row center at Kiel Opera House in St. Louis, Missouri in 1977 to see Jimmy Buffet in 1977. Way before Parrotheads! It was incredible. I'll always be thankful to my brother Randy and his high school buddy Russ Christian for getting me the tickets. Russ worked for Contemporary productions at the time. Ah, the memories!

Front row of many concerts that did seating as you got there (and I got there early). Also, 2 rows from the field for multiple STL Cardinals games.

Front Row, Middle, for Barenaked Ladies, Green Day, and the Fray. Been 2nd row and further back for a lot more shows, but that is as close as it gets.

My ex worked for a record distributor. We would get tickets front row or second row center all the time. I have the photos... (Only thing I miss about her.)

One of my Aunts used to date the first base coach for the Cubs... She would always give me seats right behind the Cubs dugout (1st - 3rd rows depending on the game). Never been able to beat that.

Went to a TobyMac concert one time, we were in the middle of the stadium, right next to the sound booth (literally touching it, I leaned against it a time or two). Went dark for a stage change, next thing we know: TobyMac and Chris Tomlin are standing on a platform in the sound booth for the next section of the concert. Was probably about 6 yards away from them, great experience! :D

@capguncowboy: If I read this correctly, you're the tallest guy in the audience and you frequently stand against the front barrier. I hope I never end up at a show with you, because I'm 5'1" and try as I might I can hardly ever get all the way up to the front. So I'd probably end up staring at your back the whole night.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I haven't ended up behind you at a show....

Owners box at the Bucks game, first row 50 yard line at Lambeau field (this is probably better) have also had some behind the visitor bench tickets at timberwolves games.

Love seeing one of my favorite venues mentioned here a couple times. <3 Newport Music Hall!

Front row at general admission shows is my typical place, unless I'm feeling really lazy.

The best, however, was being on stage with my favorite band, Biffy Clyro, at warped tour. I'm not talking about crowdsurfing up there. Just hanging up there on sidestage. Got to watch them soundcheck before gates opened for the morning, and then play to a handful of people who made it there when they started playing. I get to do this again this summer with Twin Atlantic. Hoping I won't be paralyzed with excitement, but I know I will be again. I'm supposed to go backstage for the BBQ at the end but I get nervous going to "VIP" places. It seems sacred or something.

Second place is winning a box seat to CD101 Day Side A. It would've been great if a cold front hadn't set in and we nearly froze to death waiting for Kasabian to go on. Neat being next to the guys from Of Monsters and Men tho...

I had a third base box seat at Dodger stadium a couple years ago, 6 rows back. I paid $150 for it, but the people next to me paid closer to $300. Couldn't get much better than that. :)
