How's the weather where you are today?
In El Paso we say, "Don't like the weather? Wait a minute." But today has been a real tour de force. When I left for work at 7am it was foggy. By 9am we had sustained 45mph wind with 55mph gusts. At 10:30, it started raining. By 11:30 it was hail, and when I went out for lunch it was snowing. By mid-afternoon we were back to our usual mostly clear sky with brilliant sunshine, although there are so many particulates in the air it looks like Beijing out there. Still windy and annoyingly cold at 42, after it being sunny, still, and in the low 70s all weekend. It's supposed to be back in the 70s for the coming weekend, hooray. Part of The Day After Tomorrow was filmed here (US refugees fleeing across the Rio Grande) and the director was delighted when a big desert sandstorm blew in and saved him the special effects money he'd budgeted for those scenes. "You brought your own apocalypse" he said.
