questionswas this the worst woot-off ever?

No BoC = the real bag of crap! We wait these days tied to the computer like an expectant father ... The carnations will rot in a vase ..." I really love the site, but winning the real prize is what it is all about.

vote-for1vote-against

Not the best, as there were no monkeys. However, I snagged the pistachios on wine.woot using my $5 Jumbowoot coupon and lost my home.woot virginity on some tealight rails I missed in December, so not too bad on my end.

Note: My reply is posted "a minute from now." ????

vote-for5vote-against

Not the best but I did end up buying something and using coupon. Thanks Jumbowoot!!! And also, I love Jumbowoot.

vote-for5vote-against

BOC and Monkeys aside, what seemed unusual to me about this most recent Woot-Off was that it seemed to have more multi-Benjamin items than usual, at least on the core site. I think part of this has to do with the previously mentioned Jumbowoot coupons. I (like others, I'm sure) am looking for an appealing item with a price tag of $14.99 which, after $5.00 shipping, would come to me for free. Woot, of course, is smart like that and doesn't seem to want to give away product so easily.

Hey, it's their prerogative, and it's not like Woot is a charity or anything. There are some highly-trained, overly-evolved, and ridiculously-awesome monkeys working in Customer Service and a number of other departments that have to pay for electric and whatever the heck "cable" is. I don't blame them for not cutting themselves short.

vote-for4vote-against

Looking past the BoC's and monkeys, I found all of the items highly unappealing. I have some coupons I'd like to use before they expire, but nothing popped up the whole time that made me at least halfway interested. Disappointing. Well, I take that back...I wanted a Boxee Box but they only had about six of those.

vote-for4vote-against

It's only my second woot-off...so yes, my worst one ever. I still haven't had the chance to score any of those sweeeet monkeys.

vote-for5vote-against

I agree it wasn't a particularly great woot-off. I bought two items though (both from home.wot). Usually with a woot-off I see a bunch of "must have" items at "must have" prices, and I have to convince myself not to buy them. This woot-off it felt like there was a lack of strategic pricing, didn't see any "must haves". I felt as if I had to convince myself to buy the items that I purchased during this woot-off. A few of the more expensive items I saw were the same price they were during previous woots. Where's the incentive there?

There was a lot of dead time too where an item would be up for an hour or more. I'm not sure if that was due to poor pricing, or large inventory, or both. All in-all I was a little disappointed with this month's woot-off, but I am still happy that Woot! does them. They offer a unique internet shopping experience that I cannot find anywhere else. Keep them coming!

vote-for-5vote-against

OMG...NO BOC, NO MONKEYS!!!...it's like 9/11 times a hundred...

vote-for6vote-against

I've never understood whining about someone not doing something for you once that they don't have to do ever. Stop feeling entitled, get on with your life, and get ready to get back on that bucking bronco called a woot-off next month. I got more salted caramels so it was good enough for me. Besides it's not a random-crap-off, or a screaming-monkey-off, it's a woot-off which means lots of the products woot sells. Yes it's disappointing to not have BOCs come up, I have never understood the appeal of the monkeys, they are just dog toys, you can get them at the pet store, but 95% of us were going to be disappointed when we didn't get them and an additional 4% would be disappointed when they open their BOCs. It's not the first woot-off without a signature item and this may be the price to pay for slightly less crappy crap. I wouldn't be shocked if BOC's became every other woot-off items.

vote-for6vote-against

Woot offs exist as a way to help the company get rid of extra stuff. However, the BOC and Woot Monkeys and such are what keep people watching. If you don't have those you may lose watchers.

vote-for9vote-against

Bad Woot-Offs and good whine just kind of go together...and it ‘tis just what we do. But there does seem to be a 'change in the wind" at Woot in general. And this change seems not to recognize the character of the people who spend their idle moments making comments, adding a good deal, voting on a sponsor’s ad (or clicking through to make a purchase). Due to the nature of the website, this community has an expectation that their voice is not only heard, but counts. Skimming through many of the posts over the past month there is a tone that they (we) are beginning to feel a bit disenfranchised. Woot is not simply a deal-a-day website. It is an online "coffee house" with daily visitors who chat and chide and critique not only the deals but whether or not the deals even belong on this site and how smartly or dimly they are presented to an intellectual group that enjoys reading between the lines. I think someone needs to consider/evaluate what results from a change in the menu or the cook.

vote-for5vote-against

The worst one is always the one you miss.

vote-for4vote-against

Not my favorite woot-off ever. I found an item or two, missed an item or two I wasn't quick enough on. Usually after a woot-off I'm trying to sort through all my order confirmations and wondering where i'm going to put all the random stuff I bought, but no worries this go 'round. I guess my mailman will be happy not to have to lug a whole bunch of boxes down the driveway...

vote-for6vote-against

Woot Offs haven't been the same since Amazon bought them. The "deals" haven't been super great, and BOC have been even worse. So disappointed.

vote-for5vote-against

Once upon a time everything on woot was a deal and woot offs had even better deals but you had to stay alert because the best deals were gone in seconds. Woot used to make us feel special. In this one, the prices were terrible, the junk was boring and no bag of crap was the punishment for hanging in there. I'm glad I was too busy to waste more time on it.

vote-for4vote-against

Honestly, since I had no money, and this wasn't anywhere close to payday, I made an effot to not even look at the items in the wootoff. From the glances I saw though it looked a bit below average, but still...it's nice to have a wootoff

vote-for4vote-against

@missellienc: Yes, and home.woot had a lot of other great items and deals throughout the woot off, as well!

vote-for5vote-against

I actually bought a few things this time, but the lack of the usual items was a bit confusing...

vote-for6vote-against

We were away during most of it, with NO wifi. But my wonderful btother saw the caramels and ordered them for me!! So not the worst in my book.

vote-for9vote-against

No, the last one was the worst woot-off ever. That's what everyone said. Or was it the one before that? No, wait... It was the one before that one.... I think.

vote-for7vote-against

It was disappointing to not see the BOC or the monkeys. My stock of monkeys is low and I was counting on getting those this time around. I'll have to buy them elsewhere. So sad.

vote-for7vote-against

Well, I was able to get a DDR Dance mat and my dad got a vacuum cleaner. But I didn't see reckoning shirts go on sale (unless I just missed it), no BOC, no monkey... And I was pretty bummed out at the very start because the the shirt.woot mess.
But, I mean, it could have been worse. Slightly miffed that I went and got the Wootalyzer because they were offering it free for people to track, and then nothing I'd use it for (BOC or monkey) showed up. I can just manually refresh for the other items, you know? I hope the next one is better. :)

vote-for8vote-against

A looonnnngggg three days. No printed shirt.woots, no quench tumblers, wine.woot didn't have much for the foodie crowd, no monkeys. I did get a great deal on some Stanley tool bags though, so there's that. Yea! Happy again.

vote-for9vote-against

It was indeed a sad woot-off.. no boc's, no flying monkeys, and none of the items were a "deal" compared to recent "normal woots".. normally you would see $5 off or something from the normal woot price.

Amazon = Shirt.Woot Fiasco = poor woot-off = killed my woot spirit...

vote-for6vote-against

@sadsephiroth: The thing that upset me is they were dumping Amazon crap on us for the exact same price. That is just rude.

Now that's not exactly correct. Amazon's deal of the day (the War Tim with 36 DVD's) was offered on Woot for a lower price, even with the $5 shipping. And if you purchased 3, it was an even larger savings. OK.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/
$27.99 and free ship with Prime VS http://www.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=21985 $19.99 + $5 shipping = $3 savings on a $28 item on Amazon or $19 on an order of 3!

vote-for10vote-against

I was personally underwhelmed. I did see one thing I would've used my jumbowoot coupons toward, but of course, it was when I was asleep (the gel mats for the kitchen-- I even wanted the beige ones everyone was nonplussed with).

I suppose there's still a little over a month till they expire though, so that's alright. I don't expect to find something in every woot-off.

I was hoping the BOC would come at a totally random time, though.

vote-for4vote-against

Been here since October. Have to say yes. The Woot-off felt steralized. All it was, was Woot-off killers, no BoC, no monkies, and expensive cameras.

vote-for9vote-against

I think Woot! thinks it was an unqualified success. No bug complaints, and they made piles of money.

vote-for16vote-against

The thing that upset me is they were dumping Amazon crap on us for the exact same price. That is just rude.

vote-for8vote-against

I want to say yes - but I actually saw more stuff to buy than I expected. So... not the worst, but could have been better (with a BOC, obviously.)

vote-for7vote-against

I do often wonder who it is that is buying these items that I would never buy even if I did have more money than I know what to do with.

It seems the things I want to buy they only have 8 of and they are gone before I even hit the "I want One" button.

I will have to send Woot a list of all the things they should reserve for their next woot off. It woot make it better, easier, and well..probably less enjoyable.

vote-for12vote-against

The lack of "signature" Woot items wasn't the downer. OTOH, shirt.woot ...

vote-for6vote-against

@tiamat114: Leak Frog made a cameo, however.

vote-for6vote-against

I wonder if Jumbo will be sending out sympathy coupons for those of us who were following everyday only to be disappointed by no BOC, monkey or lights. Was the 3 random shirts (not blanks) for $20 including shipping offered? I checked every day around noon (the time it has been offered in the past) and never saw it? I didn't see the buy shirt.woot shirts at the opening day price either. That was disappointing too.

vote-for10vote-against

It was pretty bad. I'm hoping they make up for it on the 29th.

Edit: I feel a little embarrassed that I spoke so highly of woot to my co-workers this week. How do I explain that it's usually better?
CoWorker: "Hey did you get that crap bag, and gadgets, or more monkeys?"
Me: "No...they didn't even have any...so...yeah, I wasted 3 days and bought 1 item..."

vote-for11vote-against

Oh how quickly you all forget about The Leakfrogs
It's okay guys I didn't forget about you. In fact you were so nice, I bought you twice.

vote-for42vote-against

Every Woot-Off is the worst Woot-Off ever. At least that is what the forums say.

vote-for10vote-against

I was rather disappointed by this woot-off, as only one of several wines that I was hoping for came up.

The lack of monkeys was not good.

As for the BoC, the next likely date will be Feb 29. In truth, I am not all that disappointed by the lack of a BoC.

vote-for8vote-against

@nafsllib: I think I saw Dirt on Home Woot.

vote-for10vote-against

@nafsllib: I did see dirt offered on home.woot, I think. It was one of them!

vote-for13vote-against

Not really. You got 3 long days to buy all the stuff you thought too long about over the last month. Just sucks that the 2 things I would have bought appeared while I was sleeping.....

vote-for54vote-against

It was an unusual woot-off. I remember reading somewhere that the new person in charge of the BOC's had some ideas to make it more interesing and that we should be looking for them. I think we did...was his idea to skip the BOC during some woot-offs? I'm confused. Between shirt.woot and this woot-off I'm wondering if woot has a death wish?

vote-for12vote-against

There wasn't anything for me to buy this time. And I really needed a monkey for a B-day present.. ARGH!!!

vote-for66vote-against

I don't know about the worst ever, but the lack of the aforementioned signature items we've come to know and love, especially the monkeys is disappointing. It just wasn't a very woot-like woot-off. :(

vote-for15vote-against

I have not been around for the entire history of Woot... but it was the worst Woot Off I have ever seen.

vote-for-5vote-against

Nope. Woot's nice enough to even do them, so therefore every one is great! :)
