How do you like your bacon? Crispy or Floppy?
crispy for me!
Definitely crispy, mmm
plentiful
Crispy AND plentiful.
Crispy is the best, but truthfully as long as its cooked I'm going to eat it.
Crispy.
This reminds me.... I once had a roommate who would cook what he called "scrambled bacon". Basically it was mostly-raw bacon that he moved around a lot while in the pan.
When I asked why he was eating uncooked pork, he was confused. He was convinced that bacon, like hot dogs, was pre-cooked.
Crispy/borderline burnt. I won't touch the floppy stuff, it gives me the willies.
Crispy. Love the crunch. Plus it's not as greasy.
Somewhere in the middle. I don't like it when my bacon shatters into a million tiny pieces but I also don't like it super soggy with grease. Slightly rigid w/ eggs and I'll have all of the bacon you have. Did you understand me because I'm afraid you may have heard "I want a lot of bacon and eggs..." What I said was give me ALL the bacon and eggs you have.
Chewy! I won't eat it crispy. I'd rather have no bacon than crispy bacon.
(I'd rather have sausage though, any day, links or patties.)
+1 on the crispy, and lots of it.
Very crispy - almost burned.
Crispy served by a beauty
Floppy: the more saturated with grease, the better!
crispy with a slight give to it
Wrapped around a medium rare filet mignon.
it's like a french fry... who wants a saggy french fry? Crispy on the outside with just a bit of chew please!
I'm going with floppy. I may be the odd man out here, but it's just how I've always enjoyed my bacon.
CRISPY! I don't like floppy bacon. Well, I don't dislike it, it's still bacon. But I LOVE crispy bacon, SO MUCH!
Anyone tried the new bacon milkshake at Jack in the Box yet? Can't decide if I'm intrigued or disturbed.
Crispy... it needs to crumble and melt in my mouth.
Definitely crisp; not slimey.
I like my bacon wrapped around a very rare steak,
or well cooked scallops.
Definitely crispy. The floppy kind is too greasy, like, texture-wise (as opposed to taste-wise). The last few times I've gone to this local breakfast place, the bacon has been a bit thicker and pretty stiff. At first, I didn't want to try it, because when I tapped it on the plate, it made a decent clink. But it was bacon, so I caved, and boy am I glad. It appeared dry, but when I bit into it, it partially crumbled then sorta melted in my mouth. And the flavor was much deeper, if that makes sense. It tasted less salty, and almost a bit nutty. Great, now my mouth is watering.
Definitely melty-crispy.
Crispy is the only way to go. Crispy and peppered is even better! Now if my doctor is reading this, I'm only speaking hypothetically. Yeah that's the ticket...
Right at the point where the excess fat gets crispy and then just melts in your mouth.
I make it so that it's crunchy around the edges, but a little chewy. I hate super-crispy bacon.
Depends on the cut really.
If it is a fatty piece. Very soft, greasy, and floppy.
One that is more lean and meaty. Crispy and dry.
CRISPY
Crispy, but not crunchy. Would rather have it floppy than to break my teeth. And when it is that crunchy it doesn't have as much flavor, IMHO.
"Properly cooked" bacon is both. A quick Google search will turn up the details, but essentially, you need something to press the bacon to the pan, keep the heat low and not let too much grease build up.
I used to cook it chewy and floppy 'til I learned to do it this way.
How is "crispy" different from "crisp"?
@jimmyd103: that is too funny & if my Dr's reading this, I don't even know what bacon looks like. I swear!!
I like my bacon like I like my marshmallows, burnt! :)
