I'm so close, I can taste it. 99.67

vote-for18vote-against

I was pretty stoked when I hit black triangle... I think 100 rep requires camping the site for several days, posting deals on everything you can find, voting on everything you can vote, commenting on everything everywhere, everywhen, and not getting downvoted.

vote-for13vote-against

Pulling back into the black triangle is good enough for me; forget about trying for the 100!

vote-for10vote-against

I made it to 4th that I saw but never saw anything above that. After that my deals stopped going anywhere it seems.

vote-for18vote-against

I held 100 for a while. I never really tried to get it, it just happened.

But basically I hung out here A LOT. I posted a crapload of comments, many of which got voted up. I also posted quite a few deals, some of which were very popular.

Mostly I think they could just sense how awesome I was.

Their algorithms have changed about 100 times since then, so my awesomeness is no longer enough. Also, it probably didn't help that I started taking weeks at a time away from the site.

Just please don't be a karma whore who posts tons of inane stuff fishing for votes in an attempt to get to the top of the leaderboard.

vote-for10vote-against

I made it to 3rd place once.

Most of the deals I post are stuff I have actually bought. The rest are ones I run across while researching things I am interested in buying in the future, which includes research on other aggregate sites. I use my Amazon wish list quite a bit to cross check prices and make notes to myself when they go down.

vote-for12vote-against

Yes, although I didn't do much to get it. I just happened to need to post two questions within a day after posting two deals and was posting comments occasionally. It was a lot easier to do back then. Nowadays, my "Questions voted on is about midway even after I voted on like 15 questions. I can't understand it.

All I care about now is staying black. Black Triangles come with fantastic perks.

vote-for11vote-against

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Okay, I'm lying - been married more than once. On to your question: Never made it to 100, aka No. 1. Don't know how; not sure I care. Nothing I've ever done seems to matter. I post deals I like & might, or do, buy. Questions I post are those I would like answers to. Hoping that others want to answer. I vote up almost all answers to questions I read - I want to acknowledge those who take the time to answer. Ditto comments on deals - I up vote them, even if I may disagree w/their point of view. I do not down-vote deals or questions. Just me...not right or wrong I guess.

vote-for7vote-against

I am so LMdaintyAO - My 'square' shows 1 woot; and my 'triangle' joined date shows 12/18/2011. And you think any of this is accurate or makes sense? ::snort:: Watch me cascade down to the 80's now. And THAT has happened before for reasons unknown to me. ;-)

vote-for24vote-against

I made it all the way to the top once @shrdlu and hobbit took a break from Deals. I am enough of a nerd that I took screen shots every time it happened.

vote-for8vote-against

I've made it as high as #4 so far.

vote-for10vote-against

@rprebel: I've been dancing around the top 15 for a few months now...I feel like when I finally get it, I will miss seeing it haha

vote-for8vote-against

I have a couple of times. Usually as a result of a combination of good luck and the failure of the statistics calculating algorithms.

vote-for9vote-against

I did. One weekend I had two deals do real well and the Woot! gods smiled on me. I think I was 100 for like...4 hours or something close to that.

Woot! gods smiling is a fleeting thing.

vote-for19vote-against

@lavikinga: I will never forget being trapped at 100/100 for what seemed like forever. Although I wish they'd redo the damned algorithms to dramatically reduce the weight of questions asked, I am otherwise very grateful for the changes they've made over time.

It used to be that the sheer amount of activity I had on the site kept me at the top (remember, calculations were simpler then). @anotherhiggins was (as I recall) the first to arrive (at #1), and he was there for a while. Then there were others, and suddenly I was stuck at the top. I finally started voting up anyone who looked close to me (and that included going out of my way to vote up old comments and deals and questions) in an effort to not be number one. Due to the cleverness of the alphabet, once @hobbit hit 100/100, I was dethroned. I have absolutely no interest in returning.

I prefer the semi-anonymity of where I am now.

So it goes.

vote-for7vote-against

I never made it to a full fledged 100/100, but I was a 99.6 when deals would actually round your reputation up, so anybody who held their cursor over my username would see it as 100/100. Of course this was when you had to be 99 or 100 to have a Black Triangle.

vote-for8vote-against

long time ago when the woot math was easier I was 100/100 and I was in the top 15 a bunch of times and was always over 99%. But now, there is no explaining the madness that is the deals.woot! ranking system. I was up in the 50's last week, making up ground. I had 3-4 great questions and a few good deals and here I am at 104. I thought I had it figured out, but I don't even try anymore.

vote-for9vote-against

If you have a life outside of the Woot universe of web sites, you will never make it to a 100/100 rep score, so don't worry about it.

My score varies widely, depending upon how much time I spend here, posting deals, adding comments, and voting. When I get busy at work or in my personal life, my score drops. It seems that JumboWoot monitors my score and issues his bonus coupons when I am at a low point, so I get the smaller ones. But that is life.

vote-for8vote-against

I'm there right now, and I don't know how I did it. But, it really doesn't matter. It's just fun to post deals people are interested in buying, and weeding out the junk, and let the chips fall where they may.

vote-for5vote-against

@gmwhit: Right here with you! Edit - just saw your high score, so not exactly with you - trailing along behind. I drop sometimes 5 points in a day even though I remain an active participant most days - just do not post things I do not consider deals if they are not in my opinion, and just am not as knowledgable on computer/appications gaming, etc.

vote-for9vote-against

@shrdlu: That day, when you are anonymous, I can say with certainty will NEVER occur. You are too much a part of the site and a go-to individual for excellent information, as is @lavikinga and others who come and go lately. BTW, nice to see you @anotherhiggins.

vote-for15vote-against

@waltertangofoxtrot: I rarely posted deals, unless I saw something I thought was a good one. I also did not camp out on the site. ;) But I was helpful and answered questions. All I got for being at 100% was a lot of grief, a stalker and mean people calling me names, It isn't worth it.

vote-for9vote-against

I had it once. It was amazing. There was a parade and the mayor of Woot handed me the key to the city.

vote-for4vote-against

Most I ever got was 96/100. Wandered off for a week and havent been able to get that high since. Hovering around 92.

vote-for5vote-against

I was at the top 2 times, (100's) and then I had a party for myself

vote-for6vote-against

@lavikinga: i did exactly the same thing taking screen shots when i made it up there briefly myself. i was like, 'no way'! i had to have proof!!!

vote-for5vote-against

@hobbit: Yeah, you're right. Back in the days when we were always at/near the top of the leaderboard, there were no coupons issued. We did get that surprise BOC that one time. That was pretty sweet.

But it seems like JumboWoot is handing out perks left and right nowadays.

@klozitshoper: Thanks! You too.

vote-for2vote-against

It seems like so long ago but yes many times..
Most notably.. http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/9e604245-1aad-4931-b0aa-41dc65df1139/has-this-ever-happened-before-on-the-leaderboard#10

Don't expect to get there again since the last big algorithm change...

vote-for4vote-against

@hobbit: I have to say, it is funny to see your name with anything other than a black triangle next to it... :D

But I do understand the grief. There have been some interesting periods in Deals.woot history that were understandably bad for some in high places... Fortunately/Unfortunately, I never made it quite so high as the reigning top spot, but I'm content with my black triangle (however long that lasts). I figure that it's mostly not worth bothering too much - if I contribute, hopefully someone gains from it. Though I don't mind getting JumboGifts every once in a while.
