Do you know of a spill-proof 9x13 container?
I need to carry bourbon slushes from the kitchen, down two steps to the freezer in the garage and they always slosh out and make a mess.
round containers are less likely to slosh over than square ones... maybe a sterile 5-gallon bucket with a lid...?
for smaller amounts - most (non fast food) restaurants will save you a few sour cream / cottage cheese containers w/ lids. They are food safe and about the capacity of a #10 can... maybe 3/4 Gal. Some restaurants get various foods in small 1/2 Gallon buckets with lids.
Have you tried a pyrex pan with a lid like this: http://www.amazon.com/Pyrex-Grip-3-Quart-Rectangular-Baking/dp/B0011E75U2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
They aren't necessarily spill proff, but would cut down on the sloshing greatly.
@capguncowboy: Has to be a shallow container or the bourbon all freezes in the middle.
@coffeegirrrl: I'm going to check that out. Waiting for some new lids I ordered. My old ones are warped from putting them on in the pyrex portables.
@pooflady: "Taste" the bourbon after the trip, not before.
The pryrex is a good idea what about saran wrap for better water tightness.
9x13 sounds like a medium sized cat... they tend to be pretty spill proof, unless you spin them a lot, though they are hard to open... :X :X :X
erm... :P my vote goes with rubbermaid pitchers - i have a square one about the size you are looking for (though upright) that has a double vent (seal able) and stays shut very well.
For pan style - rubbermaid also makes this cake/pie/pudding container a little larger than your dimensions that has latches, and, barring some rough treatment, should stay sealed and leak free.
Posts like this really amuse me! You can't figure out how to go down 2 steps without spilling something. So you go online asking for help. Ask your kid to do it for you. Or ask a neighbor to help you out. Transport it before sampling it.
Why don't you put the pan in the freezer and carry the slushy mix to it in a pitcher?
