Challenge: 16gb MicroSD Card
I'm looking for a good deal on a 16gb microsd card for my sansa fuze (a PMP). If anyone sees one, please post it and/or please let me know personally.
Further, if anyone has strong opinions on what speed class of card would be most helpful for this application (and why), or what company's cards to buy (or not buy), I'd appreciate those too. Thanks!
Amazon has the following
This is a class 2. Everyone seems to agree that class 2 is more than sufficient for music. I use class 2 microSDHC in my Sansa and it is great.
class 2 are kinda slow, check craigslist i got a class 6 16gig micro sd for $25 off some guy just in time for my evo 4g :)
@crycis805: I'd be really worried about that one. I've seen lots of reports of conterfeit cards that show 16GB, but when you try to write to them they accept one or two (or less) Gig and then they are full. $25 for a class 6 16GB seems waaay too good to be true. I'm not the only one saying that class two is fine for playing music.
always be wary when buying stuff off craigs list, this time it worked in my favor and im loving my memory card. it has about 14.9 gigs after format but that will do fine for now.
PS it had a price tag on it of 89.99 so im assuming hopefully he bought it at an employee discount or sadly it could have been stolen. you never know with CL.
@meyerk0: Is class 2 sufficient for video playback as well?
Wait a couple of days, check eBay and CL. Verizon's Droid X is coming out - the Droid X comes with a 16gb micro SD card. Verizon will also be promoing a 32 gb micro SD card @ $100, exclusively for those who buy a Droid X ($150 for the rest of us). My bet is that you will see quite a few 16gb cards for sale soon.
@dcalotta: Interesting prediction. For some of the reasons cited above, I'm hesitant to buy something like this on eBay and certainly from craigslist (where you don't even have seller ratings, for pete's sake!). Nevertheless, I'm not in a major rush here, so I'm interested in seeing if your prediction proves true, but I'll hope people can post more "mainstream" deals on those microsd cards here on Deals.
@gwintner: I checked with my expert (son) and he said that class 2 should be fine for video as well. I've seen that opinion in other places, but I didn't have time to search for it today. My employers expected me to do some work today.
