I'm Furnishing An Office, help!
I've been asked to help furnish an office space (i.e. desks, conference tables, coffee tables, etc.). I considered going to furniture stores that have sales going on to find a conference table of some sort or even scavenging an antique shop in hopes of something I can sand down and re-stain. I guess I could go to a nearby OfficeMax or Staples but I don't know how the quality would be for the price. Anyone have any tips or experience with shopping for furniture?
Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know where you are located, but see if you can find a local business auction company. My office has bought a lot of furniture from liquidated business auctions, for literally pennies on the dollar for some large furniture pieces - cubicles, conference tables, desks, bookcases and shelving.
@anamurias: I really recommend against ANY of the big box stores for office furniture. It's that cheap, pressed board, assemble it yourself stuff, and not worth it even in the short term. In addition to the sensible suggestion already provided, I think your idea of visiting local antique stores is a good one. The quality of antiques is usually so much higher than most furniture you might buy new. It's actually how I got started with antiques, years ago, because I couldn't find a dresser that I liked for any money.
Any decent antique store isn't going to be selling things that need to be sanded down and restained, by the way.
There are usually business supply places. I have a couple locally, and I live in the middle of nowhere, so I'm sure you have some too. Try the (gasp) yellow pages, and see what's out there. Don't buy ANY chairs unless you sit in them, and really make an effort to see if they're comfortable or not.
I may be back later, with more...
Make sure you buy all ytour paper from the "Michael Scott Paper Company"

When I was furnishing a new office I went to a stores that sold previously owned office furniture. They have desks, chairs for the lobby, office chairs, conference tables, white boards, everything you will need, and since all is previously owned you can probably talk them down on price, especially if you buy a large bulk in one place. Maybe get them to eat delivery cost or something. I agree with the above mentioned of "crap" furniture at the office supply places. You can also check Sam's Club, and Costco, I have gotten some nice pieces from them. Also check out Quill.com but beware you will pay for the convenience.
wtf?

same exact wording. you're not copying questions from another site and posting them here are you?
@w00tgurl: I'm hoping that @anamurias will reply to this. Perhaps both these accounts are the same person?
@w00tgurl: That's very interesting. And, I will say that the person on the other website expresses herself/himself in a manner that is much different than my experience with anamurias's previous posts. In fact, this question is the clearest post by this user that I have seen so far, lending credence to your supposition that this may not be an original question.
In case anyone is interested to see what I mean: http://deals.woot.com/questions/users/anamurias
@w00tgurl: Nice catch. I also noticed the improved English in the question. Coincidence? Nah..copy-and-paste job.
@anamurias check out the sponsored deals today. There is an office chair on sale http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/0f47241f-3524-47be-b1f8-c5ca321c2be5/screen-back-office-chair
Thanks for all help, I do appreciate it.
