I'll donate a Klondike bar, but that's as far as my activism goes. But I don't think there's anything to worry about. It seems to me that they're just gonna tweak it a bit and possibly find a new place for it instead of being on the forums. Just calm down. It's all gonna be alright.

@captainsuperdawg: i'm not so sure, thunderthighs has been trying to drum up support and takes count of people participating and has mentioned that she was unsure how long it could go on with low participation. you think she's just scaring me, or is it for real?

i'm about to go all Will Ferrell Old School in here, grab a chair and freak out

I like the ideal of the game, have only played twice though. The format is difficult for me in the forums. To me it's sort of embarrassing to guess an answer that was already thrown out there six posts ago (even if only seconds have passed). I would prefer a format where comments were somehow hidden and a random clue (or 20 questions-based yes) was thrown out there based on anonymous comments. IMHO.

@thunderthighs, @jumbowoot, @gatzby, @thefenst, @inkycatz, @alltheothermods, is w00tgurl right? Is Woot! Clue on the chopping block, or is this some kind of early April Fool's prank?

vote-for3vote-against

@captainsuperdawg: Ooh! What a cool way to buy a boc. play and win woot clue! for your coupon code (would have to be for random past items, not current just due to volume). And to get buy in for the game. Still doesn't change my opinion however I'm nuts.

vote-for5vote-against

@captainsuperdawg: Yes, it is going on hiatus while we regroup, reassess, and s few other words that start with re- as well.

vote-for3vote-against

@thunderthighs: So what you're saying is, that it's just a break, not a full-blown elimination of the idea, right?

vote-for6vote-against

@captainsuperdawg: what I'm saying is...

"NOTICE: Woot! Clue! is going to take a break after this week as we evaluate and reassess the game and possible future events for the community."

I'm not gonna make promises that I'm not in a position to keep. I feel that Woot Clue was a success and I'm glad you all enjoyed it. Yet, as with every event or experiment, it wasn't without challenges. We want to take what we've learned and see what we might do in the future.

Being late at night, I think many Wooters just want to be around long enough to see what's new and that's it, fun and games be damned. That leaves just the most active folks participating in them instead.

The timing leaves me out of it, as I usually don't get on until after dinner; by that time, it's over already.

Speaking of games with low participation ... there are 7 shirts still unanswered in my [http://shirt.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=4927894]Name That Shirt[/url] thread.

I'm sure the woot! wonders will either continue the game with a few tweeks or find some other way to keep us all occupied... they're good like that!

vote-for2vote-against

@potter412: i don't know i mean what if woot is the new google, experimenting with us, probing us and then just getting rid of our toys. first Woot Happy Hour and now THIS
if i had a few thousand dollars i could hire some of those youtube armies that go around posting on every popular music video "WOOT CLUE 2012" or "thumbs up if WOOT CLUE sent you here"

Aye, play WOOT CLUE and you may die. Don't play, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our competitors that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR WOOT CLUE!

vote-for3vote-against

@w00tgurl: No! You're polluting my brain with horrid things about woot! that could never, EVER happen. Ok maybe.. wait.. No!

i sent @gatzby a PM on the woot side, here's a form letter you can use too, and his direct PM link:

here is a sample form letter you can PM to Thunderthighs's boss @Gatzby. Tell him we want to keep playing WOOT CLUE and winning prizes!

Here's his PM:

Dear Gatzby,

We love playing WOOT CLUE with Thunderthighs. It's a lot of fun and it also makes me stick around and be more active than usual.
Please bring back the WOOT CLUE game with Thunderthighs and her fabulous prizes. I promise to tell at least one other person about the game.

Thank you,

I have to agree with @mrsbeny on this. The idea is good but needs some tweaking....it's just too awkward trying to keep up in real time.

vote-for4vote-against

I like it the couple of times I have been able to play... it's nice that it has evolved and TT has tried out new and different ways. To really make it really better though I agree that they need to "RE-" things... mostly it has to do with the forums not being a good medium for that kind of contest. And the best ideas we (the players of the clue) have come up with to make the game better usually involve one or more of the following, which is at this moment impratical to implement:
- self policing by players
- different location (not on the forums)
- some kind of tracking of who is paying / past participation

some examples include:
-- something like giving everyone ONE question to ask until at least XX number of people have also asked a question before you can ask again. or limiting people to questions until they have asked at least XX questions before they can start guessing a specific product.

lots of good ideas, not enough existing infrastructure to support some of these though.

I would absolutely participate if it was a little earlier in the evening. I know the goal is to get people hanging around for the next new item but midnight for me on a school night is a little late in the evening.

I love the idea of woot clue LOVE it, I just wish it was a little earlier.

However I support woot clue even at it's regularly scheduled time and would donate 4 bandaids, 2 paper clips, and spool of thread to keep it alive. I figure McGuyver could craft and awesome save out of that stuff.

Good Luck Woot Clue!

I haven't gotten to play because of the time as well. I understand why it is the time it is and why it is only on the days it is but at this point in my life there is not much you could do to get me to be able to play at that time.

vote-for15vote-against

Woot Clue isn't dying, we're just going to look at what makes it successful and try to do that better in the future.

Frankly, we're stoked people want to play games with us. We just have to figure out how to make them easier to run alongside with normal moderation duties!

vote-for2vote-against

@gatzby: well, i hope it comes back soon because i'll miss playing it :-(

vote-for5vote-against

@gatzby: You could get TT a helper moderator... Perhaps one by the name of, thumperchick?

vote-for5vote-against

@gatzby: I sent my resumè in a few weeks ago.
