Weird. It works for me.

Clicking a username sends you to the tab for that user. It looks similar to the home page, but shows the specific deals or questions that the user has submitted, commented or voted on. More information here:

@wootvan currently has the second-highest reputation on the site. Either he's having a really lousy morning or something is wonky... somewhere.

vote-for2vote-against

I think wootvan might need to take some screen shots and send to staff. Cause I can't replicate this and I usually end up replicating all the bugs that everyone has because deals.woot still hates me, I still have comments with 0 votes.

vote-for4vote-against

@hobbit: still tracking the 0 vote thing. Do the comments show up immediately as 0 votes? or does it revert back to 0 votes after a few minutes? Do the comments that initially displayed 0 votes still show 0 votes or did they correct themselves?

It would be helpful if you could send staff an email with a screenshot noting the exact time and timezone showing 0 votes... have them forward it to @shawnmiller and/or @josefresno... we will see if we can nail this one down.

vote-for3vote-against

@josefresno: I have seen both and it is doing it to you too now. I also note that voting for you doesn't always give YOU the 2 votes. I can email them to jumbowoot or directly to service@woot.com which would you prefer?

vote-for2vote-against

@hobbit: You could either send an email to service@woot.com or better yet, upload them to imageshack, flickr or similar and post a link....

vote-for4vote-against

OK now...never mind.

vote-for3vote-against

@josefresno: email sent with link. I can't post it here, the album is protected for various and sundry reasons.

@josefresno: Actually, this morning...

@prettywootprincess' first comment had zero votes (hence my comment below about "oh voteless one"). Currently it has five, but no telling whether her vote is one of those five.

vote-for3vote-against

okay I just voted for this, but it should have 2 votes. Unless you revoked @jumbowoot's woot purchase

@shrdlu: yep, 5 votes is correct on that comment... from looking at several different items, it seems that the votes are eventually calculating correctly. However, there seems to be a timespan that occurs every once and a while where a '0' is displayed when it should be a '1'. We are trying to keep an eye on it and track it down...

vote-for3vote-against

@josefresno: What I have noticed, and find frustrating, is that sometimes I will vote on something, refresh the page, and see it go to zero. I can vote and unvote over and over, and it just doesn't stick. When I give up, and come back later, sometimes it STILL doesn't work. I might also point out that @prettywootprincess had a zero vote for at least four hours or better. I have voted for something, and gone back a DAY later, and it still doesn't show that I did.

I don't think this is always a self-correcting error. I see instances where something has a zero vote (and I know that the person posting has the ability to vote), and it will just keep that zero vote. It is making me sad.

Potentially good news, we believe we have tracked this one down as a time-server sync issue between our machines on the web farm (don't ask why this is the case, but it has to do with eventual consistency over time) We just deployed an update that should make you all happier (hopefully).

@shrdlu: yep... it has only been self correcting if another vote occurs on the same thing, otherwise it would stick at 0 until another vote occurs.

Also, please bear in mind that the vote counts are reflective of other people removing their own vote.

@josefresno: Do we need to talk to the sheep on that farm about speeding up the updates? Sorry I couldn't resist whenever I hear web farm I think sheep, cows, chickens.

@josefresno: Ah. Interesting comment re: second vote causing corrections. I note that in many cases, I've refrained from voting on a comment with a zero vote so that the user would notice.

As a dissenting aside, I've come back to comments I'd made a day ago, and (out of curiosity) unvoted my comment, which was at ONE, and which remained at ONE, until I voted it up, at which time it became TWO. Sometimes it doesn't stick, though. I had a terrific time this morning with a comment which would not stay voted, and which had been voted on by someone else.

I'll watch tomorrow morning, when traffic is heavy (I notice more problems in the morning than other times).

early mornings around 6amish Eastern time seem to be an issue just making votes stick period. I noticed that this morning and for the past week. I will pay close attention again tomorrow morning as well. Problem is, I am usually multi tasking so I am not paying close close attention that early in the AM and I haven't had my coffee yet.

@hobbit: Oh, good call on the time. I'm not much of a morning person, and am pretty fuzzy about the time, but I'd say that I see this behavior from about 4 or 5 AM Pacific until about 9AM or so, at the latest.
