They are under your last deal posted. Look at the bottom of your post. You can click it to expand it. I really don't like this system because most don't seem to know about this.

Ok...I found them embedded in the last deal with very small pics. So this is collapsing, eh? Well, if I decide I would like to relist these later so they have a large pic and a full subject line may I do that? Or do you pop them out of the other deal at some point when you have more time to list them? Thanks.

Ya, I don't like it either. Whose idea is this anyway? How do you avoid it in the future?

vote-for2vote-against

@cindihoward: not sure how to avoid. its when you post multiple items from the same website.

I just figured out how to make the listing large by clicking on the + show more deals by.... I had been mousing over the small pics and trying to read them. I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box but I'm no dull pencil, either. If it took me this long to realize what the + show more deals by... line is for, then I'm sure many others are missing these, too. I wonder how many good deals I have missed by not understanding this. I thought those were just alternate views of the item above it. I wondered how to embed those extra pics in my description. Now I see, it wasn't the same item at all! This really is not an effective process. I see it has been complained about ALOT in many previous postings. Maybe that is something that can be worked on to improve the site. It is disappointing to work hard to find good deals (at least deals you think are good) and then have them hidden inside another post. It is discouraging to the lister. Hear that WOOT? Please fix this.

@rlapid2112: So, to avoid this in the future I need to avoid listing two deals in a row from the same website, right? I can do that: it just seems very inefficient.

vote-for3vote-against

I think that will work. Maybe. It does save us from @wootbot and his/her posts, though.

vote-for3vote-against

@rlapid2112: Well...you have a point there. I didn't realize how many wootbot posts I was NOT being required to look at until I scanned all 63 pages of the past 24 hour posts. Is wootbot a major stokholder in buy.com?

vote-for3vote-against

@rlapid2112: I'm still learning woot.com. I see you are currently #1 reputation and #1 voter. Can you offer any advice on how to be better at voting? I don't vote for everything, only the deals that I think are a real value or stand out in some way. I just realized I could vote on answers and comments in the thread. I am trying to vote on those that are either very helpful, express my sentiments exactly, or are clever or humorous. Is this the right thing to do? I guess it makes sense to ask the top wooter this kind of question.

vote-for5vote-against

@cindihoward: In regards to voting, that's EXACTLY what you should be doing for comments and deals.

vote-for2vote-against

@abramokids: It's working! I'm moving up on the voter board!

vote-for3vote-against

@cindihoward: I actually threw a party last night on my #1 status ;-)

I have only been there once before, and then, for only 20 minutes. Regarding voting:

1) I only vote on deals which interest me
2) I only comment on votes that are fun, worth purchasing, or need to be made fun of.
3) When I ask a question, I vote up any constructive or humorous comments.

@cindihoward: yes i do believe @wootbot owns some major buy.com and thinkgeek.com stocks. i can see it retiring somewhere soon, just living off the investments.

in reality, deals.woot found those 2 companies' RSS feeds and have @wootbot working hard to post everything from them and all updates too. they're considering it a pilot

as for the collapsing, it doesn't happen with everything. it's when you post deals from the same site that you get collapsing. i've seen vendors avoid collapsing by making subdomains so technically the site is different and doesn't collapse.
also, the collapsing goes away after a while, i haven't found the sweet spot yet. if you post something from amazon.com today and 5 minutes later, it'll collapse. if you post today and in 3 days for example, it won't collapse. i think it's when the deal slides off the "fresh" tab completely, whatever timeframe that is.

@w00tgurl: Collapsing runs on a 24 hour clock. I like it very much. I never EVER vote on the idiot vendors who try to get around it by making one zillion variations of their site name so they can post more junky stuff. I also like it because sometimes a person will want to post every single cool thing they see on a site, all at once, and it's nice to look at one or two, and then realize they're posting stuff you don't care about, and move on.

Collapsing helps to ignore spammers while waiting for staff to catch up to Tattles, too. Fresh on the Deals side has a clock that's about 24 hours long, or perhaps a bit longer (but never shorter).
