if I know nothing about the movie, I head over to IMDB.
If the IMDB rating is below 5.0, chances are slim I'll ever watch the movie.

I occasionally visit rotten tomatoes, even though I dislike the inherent negativity in the site's name. But generally after I watch the movie. I prefer to make up my own mind about movies, without being influenced by other people's opinions before I have even seen it. I sometimes like to read professional critics' reviews about films because they are much better at articulating their viewpoint than I am. But in terms of enjoying the film, I don't believe their viewpoint has any greater validity than my own.

I used to rely on Rotten Tomatoes for movie reviews but they seem to entirely dismiss films sometimes despite them actually being quite good and they promote films that are absolute garbage at the same time. This isn't always the case but it seems to happen fairly often. I would rather just go see the movie and decide afterwards if it was worth the price of admission or not.

And I NEVER rely on reviews from people that I know personally with the exceptin of a few select people. The rest of you have no credibility.

I tend to check rottentomatoes as well as check a few trusted friends. Most of the time the only time I go to a movie is if it's something I am looking forward to already, so I don't tend to end up in a lot of situations where I'm sitting there going "should have waited for the dvd".

I've been meaning to use metacritic.com for checking out movie reviews. It aggregates reviews from other sources and users. At a glance it's easy to see who is giving what ratings.

I mostly use IMDB.com at the moment, and Netflix.com if it happens to be a movie I'm adding to my queue.
