@kfujita: According to Wikipedia, there's good news for you:

In February 2012, Leaf Brands, LLC acquired the trademark and plans to reintroduce the classic brand back into the market by the end of 2012.[1]

By February 6 2013, Bonkers will introduce eight new flavors:

Peach
Apple (Red outside, green inside)
Lemon
Lime

Vanilla-Peach (Malagasy Vanilla outside, Peach inside)
Peach-Apricot (Peach outside, Apricot inside)

Starburst Fruit Twists. I LOVED that candy and I miss it SO much. It had the texture of licorice, but really strong fruity flavor like a Starburst. Now I am going to be futilely craving them for the rest of the day... :(

Wonka's Tangy Taffy. Laffy Taffy just isn't the same

@lichme: Probably 10 years ago there was a limited release of Lays Ketchup Chips in the US. They were glorious and I still check for them every time I go to the store hoping they come back.

This November I was up in Wisconsin and was in a store that had Herr's Heinz Ketchup chips. I bought a couple bags and they were a good enough substitute that when I go back up I plan on bringing several bags home.

OK Soda. It was a mid-90's Coke product that was essentially the canned equivalent of walking up to a soda fountain and dumping a little bit of everything into your cup. It was amazing, and their cans were unique even today:

@lichme: Ex-girlfriend's roommate was Canadian, we'd travel up to Thunder Bay and made sure to get Kinder Eggs every time we were there.

@thefenst: THANK YOU, I've been trying for ages to remember what those Planters Crisps were. Heavens to Betsy, I could eat bags of those without ever wanting to stop.

And I second (or third or fourth) @jesseroo: Planters Cheez Balls. What's with this brand loyalty I've got going on here? More importantly, what's with Planters discontinuing THE MOST DELICIOUS FOODS ON THE PLANET? I, too, have never found a brand of cheese balls that compare. We used to clean the cans and my dad would use them for holding stuff (nails, screws, etc.) in his garage... every now and then I'll see a can in there and be sad.

Blue mountain Dew. . . . I have vivid memories of throwing a 2-Liter across the ice of a frozen creek right before we tried to cross and a friend fell through the ice and completely submerged. We got across the creek and all lived but we couldn't find the mt dew when we went back in the spring

@thefenst: I loved, loved, loved eating those breakfast bars when I was in school.

@jazzmark: Thank you, @Lavikinga gave me a heads-up too. Amazon, why didn't I check there???!! Now I just have to breakout the Netflix, and look for some old Scooby Doo cartoon, pour myself a bowl of nice and crunchy Quisp and have at it!!!

I'll wager I'm the only person who misses Pepsi Blue. Loved that stuff.

I really love the hive mentality around here.
I post before that this had been asked before with a link to it and get up voted then ask if no one cares this has been asked before and get mad down voted. So classic you guys are.

@eeekdageek: I'm really surprised with all the Pepsi Throwback and all that mess that they haven't yet gotten to a "limited release" Pepsi Crystal Throwback.

Sunkist Natural. A clear, mandarin orange soda by Sunkist (of course). I think I was the only one drinking it but I did love it. lol

@druke: i see your point, but in all fairness, this thread includes more than just a discussion on candy. it may have been better to phrase this discussion in terms of just "discontinued snacks". i enjoyed reading both this thread and the one you linked.

The Works chips. I am thinking it was Lays but may have been Gibbles. It was the purple bag. I would have thought they could make money just on the quantity that I purchased.

Iced Tea flavored Ice Breakers!
there's nothing like 'em out there.

junket, does anyone remember junket?

Another one of those "You know, in Canada..." posts...

Coffee Crisp candy bars and poutine (which is technically not candy). I haven't been able to find the Coffee Crisp bars anywhere (even specialty candy stores). As far as poutine goes, I lived in Wisconsin and Montana, both border states, and I've never seen it on the menu once. Tragic.

I assume Canada sends their RCMP thugs (in their crazy intimidating hats) down to the U.S. to stop us from making our own. You know... to keep the food tourist money flowing.

(P.S. I saw (Lays?) Heinz Ketchup chips at a Walmart here in Montana, so maybe it's just a matter of time for the rest of you?)

@pooflady: They don't make Cinnamon Tic-Tacs? That seems so...basic.

vote-for1vote-against

@dellamag6: I guess I hadn't looked in awhile, but now I'm sad to know this is discontinued! I loved Tangy Taffy, and you are correct... nowhere near the same as Laffy Taffy, it was actually tangy! And the ones with the colored sugar and stuff in them were good too!

I really miss Dunkaroos! And There were these really good surf themed fruit snacks that I can't remember, but I LOOOVED them! I just recently found Shark Bites again after thinking those were discontinued!

Also, Minute Maid was a classic orange drink that was much better than Sunkist or Crush.

@druke: I think it's possible you got the downvotes for belaboring the point. It's fine to point out another discussion (that was two months old and really pretty boring answer-wise) but then you've complained about it not once, but twice. Should everyone flock over to the really old discussion? I'm not quite sure what you're trying to accomplish. Also, I'm sorry I wasn't on the internets that day to see that thread or I never would have asked the ?

vote-for-1vote-against

@zuiquan: Well I'm glad we have rewritten a rule around here. Now we know it's ok to re-ask questions, as long as it's two months later and the answers are going to be more interesting. How lovely!

There are probably a few things but the first thing that always springs to mind is Nabisco Lemon Coolers.

Cherry Certs. When I was little, my grandpa would pick up a box every time he went to the commissary.

Apple Slice the soda. I miss the original Slice soda as well, but the apple flavor was so good (and disappeared much earlier and wasn't reformulated a million times till I hated it).

vote-for1vote-against

@coffeegirrrl: I really liked Cherry Slice. That was some good stuff, especially with popcorn at the movies.

@lavikinga: Is this the Turkish Taffy? http://www.candycrate.com/bonomosturkishtaffy.html It was discontinued in 1989 and brought back in the last year or two.

I too, miss the crispy M&M's...the pretzel ones just aren't the same. Does anyone remember the energy drink Liquid Nitro? So delicious!

I miss the Eskimo Pie frozen whatever it was. I think it was pudding and I cannot find them in my area anymore.
