I didn't realize there were bugs in the BOC and I didn't inspect the hand towel or the bag.

I'm going to throw them both out when I get home from work today.

vote-for20vote-against

Eeew, if they haven't addressed this issue to everyone who got sent a BOC, then they definitely should!

vote-for35vote-against

Oh, wow. Now I'm glad I didn't manage to get the BOC...

vote-for14vote-against

Agreed - I've never been so glad NOT to score a BOC! I'm sure that if there is an epidemic of any kind, woot will do something about it.

Now, do you think they will compensate me if I throw a stinkbug in my last tee shirt order bag and take a picture?

vote-for16vote-against

If you can post a picture of the bug(s) I'm sure the deals.woot community will be able to identify it. I know that I could tell you whether or not they are bed bugs.

vote-for18vote-against

I saw nothing on mine, but reading this question makes me itchy!

vote-for9vote-against

@thepenrod: no one in the thread posted a picture. i am going to check my stuff when I get home, not sure if the towel has actually gone through the wash yet. Hopefully I don't have any bugs on my stuff (though now I will just be wondering if they walked off the stuff or if they were never there) but if i find one, i will definitely post a pic.

vote-for12vote-against

i bet it was that ColonelCrap guy who planted the bugs preemptively. probably how he got his job
on an up note, looks like some people are getting cats in their BOCs

don't shake your box too hard

vote-for9vote-against

Man! They were telling the truth this time when they said "don't buy this" Makes me kind of sad that the BOC came so icky. Do you think there now pre-boxing in China?

On another note, Can't wait to see pics of the bugs when people start posting them. I now have something to look forward to today ;-P

vote-for10vote-against

Egad, folks, better never move to Florida!! Bugs, critters of all kinds, endemic. Don't like them, but after having disposed of them, and having washed in chlorine bleach those items with which they came in contact, there should be no problem. If some creature got away, I am sure if it is around your home you will see it and it, too, will meet its final resting place. Of course, those of us who reside in subtropical climates have ongoing pest control in place so that ideally nothing too buggy will enter the house.

vote-for11vote-against

Aw jeez I didn't see that thread either that cloth is sitting in with all my other towels! I was already a tad disappointed that I got exactly the same stuff as 80% of the other wooters now I'm grossed out to boot.

vote-for11vote-against

@klozitshoper: I don't think for most people the issue is that there are bugs, but that they could be bed bugs. Bed bugs are indeed very difficult to get rid of, expensive to get rid of, spread easily, are dirty, and they do hurt.

vote-for8vote-against

aww i didnt get a box of bugs :( so sad

vote-for9vote-against

OMG, that was me that brought up the possibility they were bed bugs. As you saw in my post, I washed my hand towel with other towels. I didn't know about the bugs until after the fact. I was not expecting "Bugs in Crap"!

vote-for5vote-against

Bug? Bug?? Is it electronic? O_O I know that woot has taken over a part of my life but, now they want to listen &/or watch me? ::shiver::

vote-for8vote-against

Thanks for the heads up to this issue. I had not closely followed the thread and was not aware of the issue. I did not notice bugs in mine at first look but will closely inspect once I get home and possibly just throw them out.

Was there a specific color/design towel that seemed to have the bug issue or what is widespread with all the towels?

vote-for13vote-against

@raider9924: I read the thread and it seems it was widespread. Hand towels and washcloths were both "infected".

I need to check mine when I get home.

vote-for19vote-against

There's not a huuuuge issue with bed bugs in Texas, my guess is cockroaches! Hope that makes you feel better!

vote-for11vote-against

@agingdragqueen: You always know how to make everyone feel better!

vote-for10vote-against

I used an up-close-afier and saw no evidence of bugs on my towel.

vote-for7vote-against

@agingdragqueen: Happy to hear that they're probably not bed bugs. Had this vision of beds set up in the warehouse, and all those poor employees forced to sleep there. :-( Cockroaches, or as we call them in Florida - palmetto bugs, are another story. Those suckers are HUGE, and sometimes fly. Picture VW beetles flying around your house. Trust me, you would know if they were sitting on a washcloth. O_O

vote-for20vote-against

@gmwhit: in Houston we called those types water bugs or "demons from the deepest bowels of hell". I just haven't heard of a lot of cases of bed bugs in Texas, I'm sure they're there since those jerkwads are everywhere, but I don't think they survive very well in our hot summers- especially out in a warehouse. My guess for any bug issues stemming from Texas is always those smaller cockroaches that can live though nearly anything.

Anyway, I've been told that we do actually care about this bug issue and are trying to rectify any issues we may have out in the warehouse. People affected are welcome to email in with complaints, photos or bug-related haikus: service@woot.com.

vote-for25vote-against

In DC we call them politicians.

vote-for15vote-against

Maybe Woot took the crab invasion retaliation too far?

vote-for11vote-against

My guess is this is how killer bees were really introduced to the Western World, through Woot shipping. And now you have introduced some dangerous bug to the Northern part of the country. You monsters!

But seriously, I wish I would have looked at mine before washing it now.

vote-for8vote-against

As awesome as woot is, I dunno how I would react if I got a box of bugs...keep us posted on if they fix it.

vote-for9vote-against

@agingdragqueen: thank you for responding. here in the northeast bed bugs have become quite the problem and i, for one, have become paranoid about them. unfortunately it takes temperatures above 113 degrees to kill them - they survive in all sorts of weather. please keep us posted once you determine what type of bugs they were so we can take any necessary precautions. Thanks again!

vote-for8vote-against

You're going to hate me for it...

Schadenfreude: I'm there.

vote-for11vote-against

@gbrunner321: I think we got beyond 113 in Texas this last summer! But yeah, I know they're down in Texas, I just don't think they'd flee into our warehouse, not when threatened by an army of Roombas. But I lived in seedy apartments down there and all I would get were cockroaches or fire ants, and since we've already sent ants before (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7KE9BclFJo), it's high time we send some unsuspecting people a couple roaches to even it all out.

vote-for9vote-against

Mine went straight into the trash after I found out about the bugs, better safe than sorry.

vote-for8vote-against

@crowsnest: YEAH! THOSE JERKS! Man, once you see one of them, you've already got an infestation.

vote-for7vote-against

@agingdragqueen: Ah yes, the Fire Ant. Hubby and I were vacationing in the Miami area - wonderful, top-drawer hotel. Twin beds - I woke up ON FIRE - thousands of them must have gotten in the laundry and mixed up in the bedding. Thankfully I was not allergic to the bites - but they were BAD for awhile. Interestingly enough, I can walk barefoot in my yard, stepping over the nests, and they do not bother me. Perhaps they just think of me as one of their own now? I kid you not.

vote-for7vote-against

Wow, I finally score a BoC and this is what I get?!?! Seriously?!?! DAMN YOU WOOTBOT!! I am sure you were behind this some how!

vote-for6vote-against

@agingdragqueen: What if we got a wash cloth but didn't notice a bug? Should we still email Woot!?

s21 s21
vote-for5vote-against

@s21: I feel like you wouldn't have much to say to them but I guess if you have a good bug related haiku, it wouldn't hurt.

vote-for7vote-against

@klozitshoper: after growing up in Houston I am totally immune to mosquitoes and they know it- they no longer derive joy in taking my blood. I never had a bad run in with ants, but my brothers both did and had to be pretty well bandaged for a while- so I'm not envying any of you.

vote-for6vote-against

Ugh, really hoping that my SSOC wasn't infested. The box is sitting next to the couch, and i put some yarn on top of the carp that I wanted to use for a project. I will has a big sad if my yarn became embuggened.

vote-for5vote-against

@agingdragqueen: This should be added to the BOC buy page...

@agingdragqueen: Totally sending them a haiku... even tho I didn't get a box of bugs :(

vote-for7vote-against

@agingdragqueen: I plan to write some sort of buggy rap lyrics, probably Run DMC style.

Can you guys bug bomb the warehouse tho, I hate throwing away stuff - prefer to donate it. Make me want to toss those tees as well. Gah.

vote-for5vote-against

@yrguide: I just sent mine out haha ties in their BOC buying server bugs + these bugs! xd

vote-for6vote-against

@darkinc: that unhappy face seems to imply you wanted bugs. We can send you a box of random bugs if you're still feeling sad?

vote-for6vote-against

Woot forum filters
Are now due for an update
Add "Bag of Critters"

vote-for5vote-against

@agingdragqueen: Please do! My kitten loves chasing, mauling, then devouring bite sized and slightly larger then bite sized bugs!

vote-for7vote-against

Bag of Crap is here!
I hope my crap is unique
Looks like the same... OW!

vote-for4vote-against

I will check when I get home, I did toss out the opened edible gummi shot glasses.. nothing beats getting used food..

vote-for7vote-against

I tossed my bag and washcloth when my stuff showed up the other day because of the bugs and didn't think anything about it. This thread has me itching like crazy though and checking my kids and dogs on a regular basis.

Methinks this is all a ploy to lessen demand for Crap.
