I may be a gay man, but there's no way in hell you'd catch me buying a purse.

@holymythos: haha! But some of my best gay friends either have a fanny pack, or a messenger-ish bag, they like to call a murse. And you'd be surprised how much they paid for them!

I think $35, I loves purses but I am also cheap. I don't understand how some women can spend hundreds of dollars for a purse but to each their own.

edit: just asked my friend how much she paid for her Loui v purse was about 1200 Canadian yikes!

@xarous: But that's more understandable considering how functional it actually is!

I think I should make purses!

About $100. But the next one I'm looking at is $148. I have an acquaintance who has a collection of Coach purses. I pretty much could pay off my house with what she has in purses.

I spent like $120 on this one last year. http://cgi.ebay.com/Steve-Madden-Tote-Bag-/170496346385

That's as high as I'd go unless it really called to me...

@caffeine_dude: You should. Could make neat duck tape ones or something odd.. Seen like Capri Sun purses and stuff before.

But for me I've spent a grand total of 0. Now wallets on the other hand... I really want to get this one. It's only $74.99. Please JumboWoot! I'd love you forever and ever! lol =P

But to the point I think I've personally spent about 40$ on a wallet. A couple of fossil ones and this really neat cloth kavu one. Also have a few $80 & $90 polo ones that were gifts.

Probably like $60. But it was all leather, a Liz Clairborne and I used it daily for years.

I am embarrassed to admit it: A whopping $386. It was a Zina Eva crocodile embossed chocolate patent leather large envelope clutch. I saw it across a crowded room. The light shown upon it and the angels sang. It called to me. I resisted it for a good portion of the day but kept coming back to look at it. I call it my "Barbie Purse." The purse of my "when I grow up..." girlish dreams. I've had it for 3 years and still am in love with it.

My husband was the one who urged me to buy it with his "You only go around once in life. We can afford it; you deserve it and I want you to buy it." Well, Hon, no need to twist my arm ;) SOLD!

Up until then, my most expensive was a beautiful $99 conceal carry dark leather bag from Coronado Leather. It's been halfway around the world and back and has held up thru everything.

Today on beyond the rack dot com, there were Hermes bags. I clicked on it, and some of them were $12K would you believe? The sale started at 11AM and I looked at 2PM and they were sold out. Mind blowing.

@klozitshoper: I could never imaging paying 12K for a purse. A PURSE!! The thing that holds all my crap! Geez...but I guess if I was filthy rich, what's 12K? haha

vote-for4vote-against

@klozitshoper: note to self buy hermes bags if ever found at tjmax or other deal places.

Seriously I can't imagine that people would pay that much for a piece of leather... crazy is all I have to say.

@mustardsquarepants: I know - Gosh, that is the price of a car. When I saw they were sold out (one could, however, get some a bit cheaper - heck, as low as $1000 if I remember correctly!!

@dravack: The most expensive one I think is the Birken model. When Martha Stewart went to trial, she was roundly criticized for appearing in court carrying one.

@lavikinga: I've done worse than that with shoes (and they were on sale, too). Sometimes you just have to go with what speaks to you.

I have no idea how much is the top price I've ever spent on a purse, but I'm about to donate one to charity that I no longer love, and I bought it for $200 at DSW (no, I don't know at all what it originally retailed for). It's a Cole Haan (for those who were curious). The straps are too short to go comfortably over the shoulder, and the purse is too large to carry otherwise (I'm only five feet tall, and it nearly drags on the ground if I just try to carry it).

It isn't any more wonderful or special than other purses I have. I do love purses, and yet my favorites often end up being Lancome bags (who knew?).
