I know this is going to sound negative but I will say leaving. Just not a fan of the area. It used to be a wonderful place but really has gone downhill.

I live about 30 minutes from there. I've only been there once as an adult. There is the boardwalk and a bunch of bars/restaurants. But, that pretty much describes any town that I have even been to. I think I would go to Atlantic City if I were to want to go to a place like that as a vacation.

went once and want to go back. there's the Jolly Roger amusement park with that huge roller coaster, that was fun. they have a bungee style ride that looks fun but not for me. Seacrets was fun, i want to go back. parasailing is awesome, and the same places usually rent jetskis. pickup a fried twinkie on the boardwalk too

@dpn0121: I'll admit that it's not the same place it used to be when my son was a little boy. The trip is mostly for my grandson and he really likes it down there.

@w00tgurl: There is also Trimpers Rides and their haunted house. Let's not forget Thrashers Fries. :o)

What I am looking for is someplace where we haven't been. Someplace an 8 year old would like.

I used to live in Salisbury, MD. Ocean City was OK every rare once in a while, but I preferred to drive about 20 minutes further south to Assateague Island. Beautiful natural wetlands, plenty of hiking trials and lots of wildlife, including wild horses and burros. I always laughed at how many of the "wild" horses would mill around looking for handouts near the bridge where you entered/exited the island.

@jnissel: Wow! Thrashers fries. I'm a Maryland transplant to New England and haven't had those in years! Sorry I can't give you any OC advice, but I do hope you have fun! And, unlike New England, you can count on the water to be warm!

@wingnutzero: Go to Assateague Island. Thanks! That's one of the things we never did. I'm going to try and make sure we get there. My grandson will love the horses and the other wildlife.

@caron7: When my son and I first had Thrashers Fries many years ago he nicknamed them "Good Fries". He later changed that name to "Manna From Heaven". They have got to be the best tasting fries I have ever had! My son and grandson both concur.
