What to do in Vegas?

Meeting my sister in Las Vegas this week and I don't gamble (neither does she); I like local stuff. Any advice? This would be dining, music, activities.

I don't want to hike, it's supposed to be in the 100° range.

Bellagio fountains are always a must for me. Not a real time consuming thing to do there, but wonderful all the same. I would also look into some of the clubs if you're into that kinda thing. I thoroughly enjoy Tao and The Cosmopolitan. Great night activity and stunning artists there to enjoy as well. And yes. Beer is a great activity in itself. Not that you have to be in Vegas to enjoy that one haha. Cheers.

Not sure where you are from, but if you live (or used to live) in NYC, be sure to wander around New York New York.

My Mom is originally from the Bronx and she had a ball there. Apparently the decorations were authentic enough that she could always tell what "borough" she was in and she could use her memory of NYC to navigate around NYNY.

Hoover Dam is about 45 minutes or so away. It's very impressive. I recommend the power plant tour.

BLUE MAN GROUP! What an enjoyable show. I moved from LV about 3 years ago....I promise you will not get bored.

The light show downtown is nice if you have never seen it.

For free stuff, I'd second the Fountains at Bellagio. You will have to queue up early to get a good place to stand (at least 10 minutes, sometimes 15), but it is great to watch. They have a playlist online, but they don't say what is going to be played when, in case you want to see one particular piece.

There is a new outdoor show at Treasure Island, I haven't seen it, so I can't comment. The volcano at Mirage is worth a look, too.

you'll be shocked to learn that i am from vegas.
boy i don't miss the heat.
local? woefully uncommon. but there are a few things.
do you like sciencey stuff? try the atomic testing museum.
do you like thai food? doesn't matter. go to lotus of siam. a james beard award-winning thai restaurant? come on now.
do you like farmer's markets and artisan foody bits? there are events way up in summerlin (tivoli square).
