It depends on what you want it for and how much you want to spend. If you're just looking for an attractive jacket for around town, uniqlo.com has nice slim down jackets for a good price. If you're looking for something for the great outdoors, check out rei.com or northface.com.

The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer is currently the #1 down jacket on the market. It retails for around $300 but can be had for a little less if you shop around and have some patience. There are a few others out there, but you need to decide whether you want an ultra-lightweight for layering or a heavier weight as a full-on winter storm jacket. Most of the major ski & winter-specific brands have excellent products. Do you need waterproof? Do some research via Google and visit a few local outfitters to get a better idea of what fist you best.

@zippy the pinhead: Thanks. I have been looking at that jacket actually. I'm looking for maximum warmth. I don't care about compactability.
