Can we get a new formula for leaderboard? (again)
I am just curious on why the top questionaire has 11 asked questions and is %100 #1 on Question Leaderboard. You would think that higher activity in questions-sections would get you a higher score..
To compare I have 5 pages of questions (11 of which were asked in the past 10 days) and all went "top" cough popular. between 17-31 votes and between 9-66 answers.
Yet I am sitting at %88.40 on Questions Leaderboard.
------------
Is there a way to tweak the formula for activity? (Perhaps a "deal/question_posting falls off after x days and is no longer included in the leaderboard"
All three of the leaders for deal hunter, top questioner, top rep have had 100% for the past few days with very limited activity. I asked the question a few days ago how they are on top. Something smells fishy
I'm downvoting out of spite.
I hate the effect that asking questions has on reputation - we end up with literally thousands of pointless questions being asked just to boost reputation.
I know your questions are mostly good ones, but even you recently have asked questions that are repeats of repeats (pet peeves, favorite movies) or vaguely obscure (two in the bush, bit off more than you can chew).
I like the diminished impact of questions. In fact, I don't think the current formula goes far enough. I repeat my request that "Questions Asked" be removed from the reputation calculation entirely.
@eeekdageek: hey! i take offense to that!
just kidding. honestly, i have no idea why i'm at #1. i think i've been there for more than a week now. i do hit the site every day, vote quite a bit, tattle on dups/expired, post a few deals, answer some questions and even post some questions here and there.
it's like that old game 'lemonade stand'; maybe i've inadvertently found the exact amount of activity needed to stay at the top?
I'm still hoping for an update on why things haven't been updated...
@josefresno: Reply (picking on him because he's been nice to me in the past).
The thing is, I didn't care much for the past while (the death of Dennis Ritchie bothered me more than I can say), but just realized that my reputation has not updated in quite a while, even though I've had regular and steady activity, including the post announcing the death a couple of days ago). I'm hoping that I've just missed a comment from staff somewhere explaining that they know it's broken, and they're working on it.
I downvoted this question too. It's not like it'll really have any effect...
@shrdlu: I am in the boat with you. No matter what I have done, my rep stays pretty steady at 93, and I do think I contribute a fair amount. I am used to seeing you at the top of the leaderboard somewhere in times past. It seems so very strange to not see your name when I go there. What you have to contribute to always 100% on target and so very informational. You might post two times in a week, and for the most part those two (just a number I picked) would provide so much more to the site than the ever repeating inocuous questions. Still using the linotype? LOL
@shrdlu: Leader Board hasn't been updated on about 36 hours... I wonder if @wootbot got a little sick from all of the wootoff goodies???
@klozitshoper: Agreed...
