questionswhat's your favorite book adapted to the big…

The Godfather for now. Haven't seen Atlas Shrugged 1 or 2 yet. From what I've heard, neither will replace the Godfather, though. :-/

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Blade Runner, technically from a short story I think.

@tbgolladay: Blade Runner is based on the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Stephen King has had a lot of good movies made of his novels: The Shinning, Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Stand by me, The Running Man (although the book and movie are totally different).

Fightclub is a good one, better than the book in some respects.

The lord of the rings movies are amazing of course.

A movie to look out for in the near future, "John Dies at the End" is an awesome book that is being adapted right now.

So many movies are book adaptations.....

Oh! Shout out for Coraline! Awesome book/movie.

@portezbie: I knew Blade Runner was based on Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, but you're correct. It is a novel, not a short story.

The Hunger Games. I never read the book and wouldn't have had the time to read it. Everyone was talking about it so I had to watch the movie.

OP: Did you just see the trailer for Cloud Atlas? I can't imagine how that's going to work, either.

As far as other movies, I really like all of Stephen King's non-horror adaptations. Somehow they seem to translate very well. Stand By Me is a really beautiful movie.
