What will you cook first with your Woot! pan?
For those of us who nabbed a cast iron skillet with the Woot logo emblazened on the bottom, what will you cook first?
I'm having a hard time deciding between bacon or cornbread.
tortilla chips, taco shells, then taquitos.
I think I am going with cornbread....or steaks...or bacon...or apple pie...or I don't know
Bacon!
Seriously, it's how I break in every one of my cast iron pieces. And not just any kind, but fresh cut "economy bacon" from WinCo.
@inkycatz: looks good, will need to try that recipe out
@narfcake: Winco bacon is the best...
I will cook bacon, and then hamsteak, and then eggs, and then french toast.
Breakfast for dinner!
Definitely bacon. Even though these are pre-seasoned, you will want to get a good layer of tasty bacon grease on there first. Ever eaten the first waffle off of a brand new waffle iron? Not tasty.
Screaming monkeys :p
After reading the comments Saturday, I went to a local retailer and bought a !woot skillet (software humor -- the ! operator means NOT in the C programming language). So Sunday morning I made egg and cheese breakfast burritos (I had been planning to cook bacon, too, but it looked a little green and past its prime) and then in the evening I made some cornbread. Each turned out excellent -- nearly as good as the real thing, I'd imagine. :-)
Bacon & Egg Sandwich...
1) Bacon Lard in pan #1
2) 2 eggs in pan #1
3) 2 Slices of Bacon in pan #2
3) Break Yolks and add Salt & Pepper (pan #1)
4) Toast 2 slices of bread (toaster #1)
5) Flip eggs in pan #1
6) Add 2 slices of American Cheese and remove from heat (pan #1)
7) Add Bacon from pan #2 to pan #1
8) Remove Toast from Toaster #1
9) Slide contents of pan #1 onto toast #1
10) Place Toast #2 ontop of contents of pan #1 that was placed on toast #1
Enjoy your arteries screaming and your taste buds cheering!
@gwendyw: it is if you cook your bacon in the waffle iron. Link sausage doesn't work as well.
I'm not one of ya'll...I...resisted...the...urge...to...buy...one.
I'm not using mine to cook I'm gonna smash zombies with it so they get a big ! on their face when I'm done with them.
@devexityspace: I feel like the toaster should just be called toaster since there's not another toaster involved.
@gideonfrost: I think I got carried away a bit with numbering the tools necessary.. at least I didn't name the salt shaker #1 and pepper shaker #1
I didn't get a pan, sadly, but thank you all for sharing your delicious meal ideas. I particularly like the Bacon recipe, what with the bacon and bacon with a side of bacon.
