Has anyone eaten any of the new "vegetables" that Congress has invented?
Apparently, Congress has recently ruled that pizza is now considered a vegetable because of the amount of tomato paste on it.
I guess that the dairy and the bread (not to mention any other toppings) are cancelled out by all of that tomato sauce.
So, a pretty nasty way at getting schools to keep all of their items on the menu and being able to cross off one more vegetable given to kids.
Wait a second, remember awhile ago (long time ago) when there was the big debate if a tomato is a vegetable of a fruit? Well, in the end it was decided that a tomato is a fruit.
So there aren't any vegetables in plain pizza at all!
Not only has Congress made a ridiculous ruling, they didn't even get their facts straight before making it.
Thoughts on this?

Tomatoes are both a fruit and a vegetable, depending on your point of view. Pizza is neither a fruit nor a vegetable, unless your point of view is that of an imbecile.
Well if we're going to go down that road... Classify pizza as currency, thereby solving our financial crisis. Then cease the illegal counterfeiting of said currency by school cafeteria workers.
I think it will work.
I am so embarrassed by the so-called leaders of our country. Again, we are the laughing stock of the world............
Congress is definitely crazy, but the European Union has them beat. The EU just ruled that it is illegal to claim water can re-hydrate your body. And it took them 3 years of study to reach that conclusion. These are all the same people that say we must destroy our economy to do something about global warning.
@rprebel: imbecile, or fat guy who wants an excuse to eat a ton of pizza.
"Don't look at me like that, I'm eating my vegetables!"
@tparker915: Don't worry, the European leaders are pulling out to pass: they just declared it illegal to claim that water is useful for relieving dehydration.
You can't make this stuff up!
@captainsuperdawg: "Fat guy" is offensive to some. Use "member of Congress" instead.
@rprebel: But the two aren't synonymous. For instance, I'm a fat guy, but I'm not in Congress. I'm not even registered to vote. How about metabolically challenged Americans? That seems politically correct enough to where I couldn't be sued by some fat moron........ I mean "metabolically and intellectually challenged American."
Also @armagedon: if Congress used logic, then stuff would actually get done. Can you imagine that? The madness!!!! We could possibly have a stable economy, a low unemployment rate, and people might get along, regardless of political affiliation. I mean, who wants that?
@turbinator42: You're a day late and a dollar short. (Look two comments above yours)
@captainsuperdawg: Well now you're just being silly. I thought we were having a serious discussion about the short term socio-political effects of the declaration of pizza as a vegetable.
edit: just so we're clear, I didn't actually think that.
Yes! But I'm still trying to decide whether that makes me a Neo-Vegetarian or a Quasi-Vegetarian...(Not to be confused with a REAL Vegetarian. ;-) )
"metabolically challenged Americans" -- fantastic!
@captainsuperdawg: Yep, apparently common sense isn't so common after all!
