Yes. Chocolate milk is better than Gatorade or other sports drinks. It replenishes and helps build muscles faster.

No, but I've had it during the workout if you know what I mean.

Low fat chocolate milk has a carbs:protein ratio very close to the 4:1 desired in a recovery drink. I've used it in the past, not so much anymore because I find myself drinking a quarter gallon of it at a time, which really isn't helping my moderate lactose intolerance!

It's a great post workout drink, I know plenty of folks that do that. I'm personally a big fan of my Muscle Milk - but it's a great recovery drink.

I'm not a huge fan of drinking milk at all, to be honest. Maybe a milkshake, but that could possibly be counterproductive since we're talking about working out.

I can see how it would be better than sports drinks though.

Generally after my workout I finish a glass of water, then make myself a smoothie, with milk. But, not chocolate milk.

No... Those of us that are lactose intolerant would be miserable if we tried that. Maybe soy or rice milk though...

I've done milk with protein powder. It's pretty refreshing

In the immortal words of Ron Burgundy: It's so damn hot! Milk was a bad choice.

Chocolate milk usually. Sometimes Ovaltine Chocolate Malt.

I always blend my protein powder with skim milk and a banana. Pretty much everywhere I have looked, they seem to say that is the best thing you can drink as a post-workout drink.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge for those who work out regularly. When I was hitting the gym (oh gawd I'm getting fat), chocolate milk, as well as protein shakes, were pretty popular post workout with my fellow gym rats. I tried to stick to the organic kind.

Coconut water is supposed to be a good hydrator with its electrolytes and such, but the protein in milk helps with the muscle building and recovery.

Regular Milk and I don't get along but Soy Milk and I are pretty good friends. I usually do 8oz of Soy Milk + A Scoop of Chocolate Whey Powder (then fill the rest of the bottle with water) in a Blender Bottle. Works great and gets me about 30g of Protein in an easy to drink fashion.

For those struggling with lactose intolerance, Muscle Milk is lactose free.
I can't vouch for its effectiveness, but it sounds like several other people can.

Yep. My old football coach really encouraged it. The calcium helps with muscle contraction, helping to prevent cramps, the fat and protein in the milk help replenish the calories lost.

Guys - there are lactose free low fat chocolate milk available! That's what I've been drinking.

Wow thanks for all the comments, was my first time hearing about this. The article does say soy will work for lactose folks but not as good results.
