That was one of my favourite items from the April 1st festivities! My family thought it was a riot! :)

And now a cease and desist letter?! Even better!

Thinkgeek even put out the PORKBOARD code for $10 off $40 when they got the letter. I still don't understand the pork board. Pork is the "other white meat" and the unicorn is "the new white meat". Maybe the pork board will go after Austin Powers next (Fat Bastard said that baby was "the other, other white meat").

Their blog had a nice link showing they were moving away from it anyway. What is the Woot licensed saying ? Are you guys taking suggestions ?

vote-for5vote-against

@djbowman: i can think of several that should be licensed "Bag of Crap" - "In for 3" - "Does this work on a Mac?" - "Wootoff Killer!" - "Your Mother was a snow blower!"

ok, well maybe that last one was from Short Circuit, but the others are all Woot!

@tygerdave: I just watched Short Circuit a few weeks ago for the first time in about a decade!... Funny film.

Keep strong - you've still got the 100/100...

@arosiriak: No worries on that front - I'm already settled in at 99.58 :-)

@tygerdave: I'm working' on it, Dude! I'm workin' on it!

@djbowman: Woot is currently the owner of the following trademarks: MOOFI; WOOT!; WOOT-OFF!; WOOT HAPPY HOUR; DEALS.WOOT!; SHIRT.WOOT!; SELLOUT.WOOT!; ONE COMMUNITY, EVERY DEAL.; ONE DAY, YOU'LL UNDERSTAND; KIDS.WOOT!; EMERGENCY HOLIDAY PROVISIONS; TRIACIPEDIS; POLYPHEMUS!; MONKEY PRIZE; TØØTHSTEJNN; BAG O' CRAP; I WANT ONE!; ONE DAY, ONE DEAL; WOOT!; WOOT!; WOOT CELLARS; XTREME UPGRADE; and WOOT.

@chris12345: If I may ask a question of you:

What the heck is a "TØØTHSTEJNN"?

vote-for1vote-against

@chris12345: Wow... talk about your esoteric knowledge! Which of the Woot gods deigned to let you know the name of their Norse god/warrior colleagues?...

And beyond that, why would the Norse even want to visit California anyway? I mean really, what are Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studio when compared to Valhalla, or Jotunheim?! There aren't even any unicorns in California (last I checked)!!! No such disclaimer for the Nordic regions! Eat that, pork-board!

When I saw the title I thought for sure that this thread was going to be about cats.

vote-for4vote-against

@chris12345: How on earth could Woot legally trademark, "One day, you'll understand?" Trademarks are a) not cheap, b) not supposed to be frivolous, and c) not ever assigned to commonly-used phrases or phrases that have been around a while.

vote-for3vote-against

@eneref: That's close to the CCR song "Someday, you'll understand".

vote-for3vote-against

@eneref: Sadly, I don't know as much about trademarks as I do about copyright. Accordingly to the USPTO, however, they are all live trademarks. Sorry I can't give a better answer.
