Did you ever complete a Rubik's Cube?
taking off the labels and putting them back on does not count
Yes I did Youtube how to video :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQIoPyfQzM
Yup. I won an interesting bet doing it too. A girl at a party made me an offer I couldn't refuse if I was able to solve it in under 5 minutes.
Completely disassembled and reassembled in about two minutes.
Only losers do the twisty sides thing.
When I was in high school, I could do the entire thing in less than three minutes (only by twisting and turning). I no longer remember the moves for the top layer, so now I can only solve the first two layers.
Unfortunately, none of the girls around back then were all that impressed by my cubic capabilities.
lol, i'm wearing a cubism shirt right now (from shirt.woot).. anyway, no. i can do one side and that's it. i had a roommate who used to take his apart and put olive oil in it to make it move faster
@mikecris: what was the offer ??
Does pulling all the colored stickers off and putting them back on count? I never did that. Honestly.
Oh gosh, back in the early 80's I did! I am willing to bet now that I am 40 something it would be a bit more challenging!
I first solved it back in high school and got my average time to about one minute fifteen seconds with my fastest time at 46 seconds. I am a bit slower now but I pick up a cube about once every two to three months. I was able to do the 2x2, 3x3, and once the 4x4. I have yet to work on 5x5 or larger (not sure what they are up to now) and have yet to solve the square one. I gave up on square one after two months of getting very frustrated. The only thing I ever won from completing the cube was a free cube from KB Toys. The sales man didn't think I could solve it so he said he'd buy me one if I could solve it in 5 minutes, I did it in just under two minutes while pretending to be stumped after the top row.
Now I have to find my old cube so I can take it with me to Japan.
I just filmed myself scrambling up a new rubik's cube and then play it in reverse for people.
Yes, I could solve it pretty quickly when I was young. Now I'm an old fart and probably couldn't. I certainly could never compete with the Android phone and Lego solution at this link (freakin amazing):

Yes. Mine came with instructions.
It's amazing the things you learn if you actually bother to read the instructions.
I used to be able to solve a Rubik's cube a few years ago. It wasn't anything special, maybe about a minute to solve on average.
I haven't played with it regularly though so now I've forgotten how to do it now. Occasionally, I'll pick up the cube and be able to twist out a few algorithms just from muscle memory, but I've long since forgotten the orientation, order, or purpose of those moves.
In Soviet Russia, Rubik's Cube solves you!
Once...I had to follow a guide to to it though :S
@cornellbigred: To help him with his math theory homework.
Bought the book, still didn't have the patience to solve it.
Rubiks cubes literally upset me on a fundamental level. I can't look at one without my nostrils flaring. I don't know why I hate them so, but to answer your question, no, I have never solved one. And I never will.
Wish I could say yes. I am trying to solve the one we got our daughter now.
I have red solved and the 2/3 of the other sides.
Might have to resort to Youtube to figure it out. Worst part is when she works on it and well, you can guess how that ends up.
Kudos to those who have solved it!
nope and never really tried to much to do it either. didn't get caught up in the craze back in the day
Yes - without the cheat sheet. It's not rocket science :D
I actually started a Rubik's fad in high school. Used to play with it all day. I think my best time was 56 seconds. I was pretty proud of that
...until I saw the world record was like under ten.
Never ever. I think it's all a lie. A government conspiracy. Alien technology.
