What's your favorite videogame series?
I love Megaman games, so I would have to go with those. Current gen I would say Uncharted or Infamous.
Historically, mine favorite has always been the Final Fantasy series. Played and enjoyed them all since the NES days.
Half Life
@funkadelic78: Good choice. I've played through all of them except for 11 and 12. Some of them are way better than others.
Gears of War
It's what sold me an Xbox 360. Such a good story, lots of action, and tons of fun.
GTA is a very close second.
Call of Duty/Modern Warfare. Yes, I know that is a polarizing answer, but there is no denying that the multi-player is addicting.
For the record, I love all types of games, so I am not just a COD fanboy. Also, I stink at COD, if that helps the credibility of my choice...
Ratchet and Clank. Hands down the most enjoyable series I have ever played on consoles.
@wickedd365: I couldn't get into Gears until Gears of War 3. Love the most recent one. Also, 3D is great for that game (if you have a 3D TV).
Dragon Warrior and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
I love the Need For Speed games, but my favorite series even though it is only two so far is Crysis.
Favorite!! impossible, these are that i buy most every game released
Halo - best shooter
Mario - I prefer the open ones tot the sidescrollers
Kirby
Zelda
Elder scrolls
Final fantasy
Mass effect
Diablo
Pokemon
Battlefield
Less popular games i like , which maybe is what ur loking for, hidden gems, everyone knows what the good AAA games are
Fatal Inertia - Combat hovercar racing, a few years old but hugely fun , sadly nobody plays online
Shadow of the colossus - actually gaining popularity now, old ps2 game , but you can get it for ps3 now, awesome single player game
Dynasty Warriors- very popular in japan, picking up in the states
DEFINATELY Final Fantasty. Preferably FFXI by far.
Zelda.
The splinter cell series. Throwing cans at people is so much fun.
Blizzards RTS **Craft games, War/Star.
Not into WoW tho.
Pokemons. Coming in a very close 2nd, the Zelda series.
Battlefield. Honestly I can't think of a more consistenly fun series of games I've played over the years in terms of the amount of time I've played and the crazy good times. I guess it's not really a series as the iterations usually only share a name and general design, but I think it works for this.
As far as a series goes I would have to agree with @neolithicx, Splinter Cell is easily my favorite series although if they keep getting away from the great stealth of the first few games then I will be disappointed. In the same vein I'm a fan of Assassin's Creed but they too have been loosing touch with the stealth side of things a little.
Grand Theft Auto. Nothing beats it and it has been consistently good.
Not sure if two games counts as a series, but my all time favorite from back in the day was the Star Control games.
To this day when someone says they're playing some SC2 I picture vaporizing Ur-Quan, not Zerg.
And Yes. There were only two Star Control games.
Uncharted series
Modern Warfare
Battletoads.
Tomb Raider, hands down :)
Final Fantasy, but nothing past the PS1. They just got goofy after that.
Tribes.
Old School
PC: Command and Conquer
Console: Mario or Final Fantasy (only played FF up to the last PS1 game)
New School
Console: Mass Effect is definitely up there, but I think i'd have to say Assassin's Creed. Minus Revelations, I think just got better as it went on. Revelations was waaay too short for my taste, and it was like they took less time on it than Brotherhood. I'm hoping they spend more time on the story mode next game, and less on multiplayer.
Resident Evil. I just love me some zombie killing.
Kingdom Hearts
Another vote for Mario. I enjoy the games, and really, really appreciate that I can play them with my (young) kids, too.
Katamari Damacy. There have been occasions where I bought a handheld console just because I had to have it. And it will probably happen again with the Vita. I'm a sucker.
In no categorical order:
Kingdom Hearts*
Uncharted
Jak & Daxter
Ratchet & Clank
Deus Ex
Mass Effect
Worms
Zelda (particularly the older stuff, but that's just me)
Dragon Age
Mech Commander
Final Fantasy
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Fable (better in concept than execution)
Jade Empire (Dang, I wish this game went on longer)
Mario (any of the paper versions especially)
... And yes, I will admit to having played some Pokemon - it was addictive.
Long list, but that covers probably a few hundred hours of my life that I'm not sure that I really regret spending... :)
PACMAN! Then when Ms. PacMan came out... how awesome was that bow! ...and Jr. PacMan just blew me away.
Definitely Final Fantasy and Zelda.
-Sonic
-Elder Scrolls
-Fallout
-Mario
-Mass Effect
-Star Wars: Kotor (and others)
-Left 4 Dead
-Portal
-Half Life
There's too many to name!
i am disappoint, no harvest moon or ace attorney yet?
HALO HALO HALO
The old Red Alert was great and so was World of Warcraft RTS before the WOW RPG
I always have liked Mario, Zelda, Tetris, and Warcraft II.
@djbowman - I do believe you mean 'Warcraft', which is the predecessor to WoW . It isn't the 'world of warcraft RTS'
I have to say I'm a huge fan of the older Final Fantasy games ( up until X ) 7 & 9 are my favorites of the series though.
These have all been said but reprep:
Diablo
Dead Space
Elder Scrolls/Fallout
Soul Calibur
Mario Kart - Love every last one of them, but Double-Dash for the Gamecube is hands-down the best of the bunch.
Ratchet & Clank - One of the most rewarding and solid game series I've ever played, the newest one excluded because the 4-player AI annoys me when playing by myself.
CoD/MoH/Battlefield - I love me some shooting people.
Heroes of Might & Magic and the Disciples series.
Also Civilization, though the latest one was a bit disappointing in that series. Same with Disciples 3. Heroes 6, on the other hand, looks very well done.
I miss Master of Orion 2, 3... well MOO3 is the game that just doesn't exist.
Anyone else remember Freespace?
Ultima II, Ultima III and Ultima IV.
Damn I'm old...
DONKEY KONG!
Uncharted and GTA.
Metal Gear. Even back on the PS1, with the two-disc edition, it was a stellar game. They've only gotten better through the years!
When I used a lot of Nintendo products, Zelda (which is still an all-time favorite).
When I got a PS1, I favored Spyro (as made by Insomniac only).
Now that I'm mostly on PS3, I'm torn between Infamous and Ratchet & Clank. I like Infamous' electric powers and story, but Ratchet & Clank is the best platformer I've ever played. It's also hilarious.
@danthonyross: They did, until now.
Have you seen the trailer for Revengance? Looks horrible
@elforman: Ultima 4 and 5... those bring back good memories. 7 was superb too, though 9 was just... bad. Awful.
