@chris12345: I hate that guy. they need to ban that user.

vote-for4vote-against

Yes I noticed. I hate that and requested they remove them and also slap him a few times. I know they have the technology for that.

@mtrlgrl: Digital slap on the wrist, or in the face?... :)

vote-for2vote-against

@mtrlgrl: @hobbit called them roaches. Roaches need to be stomped. Preferably with a boot.

@heymo: Need a good deal on boots first.

So, there are 13 pages of deals where the user commented, but there aren't any of the user's comments on those deals (at least the few I checked). I have to wonder if the site tries to determine if comments are spam and hides them from view if it determines they are. Kudos to @shawnmiller if that's what's happening. Aw, what the heck. Kudos no matter what.

@chris12345: It's kinda like that, but we have a small bug :)

If your account matches a certain criteria, we run your deal/question/comment submission through our spam filter... one second after your post. Knuckleheads like @zhangyuyu see their spam-laden comment show up on the site and do the little wiggle. They get all excited and repeat the process for 13 pages of deals before they figure out we've been automatically deleting their comments just as fast as they've been adding them.

Today we found a small bug that is preventing our search engine in some instances from updating the user tab data correctly when the spam filter deletes a comment. We're working on it (low priority: should be fixed early next week).

@shawnmiller: Does this engine thingy work for the deals too? (hoping against hope. ) I am glad you have something automated to remove hose spam comments though, I know how labor intensive that could be.

vote-for1vote-against

@shawnmiller: I keep tattling with the permalinks to comments like zhangyuyu's, as someone suggested doing a bit ago. Hope that's helping!

okay this deal poster amuses me

started off with knock off ipods and electronics and is now posting cameras.

http://deals.woot.com/deals/users/iborntoshop

staff removed all the iPods, probably because they were obviously fakes. I even saw that someone found a deal that was cheaper and the deal poster responded back last night. That deal is gone so we can't amuse ourselves there. Besides we don't want to bring attention to the deals themselves some naive person might actually buy them.

vote-for3vote-against

@hobbit: I think you've gained a special, new admirer... I'm almost jealous of you! :D

Lucky for you though, I think that Woot staff are far too dependent on you to even consider removing you - or even consider considering removing you, for that matter. This is one matter where I think that we can just ignore the white-angle.

@iborntoshop: you aren't funny just wait until @jumbowoot gets up even @shawnmiller might find this less than funny.

@arosiriak: I know my very own cyber stalker. I am so excited(not really). I shared with some folks because well really this is something to share. Othrerwise I am not worried. I know the woot gods will handle it. But it is something to amuse us.

vote-for3vote-against

@hobbit: Aw, I think the request is funny; humorously absurd.

vote-for1vote-against

@chris12345: Oh me too. I have been laughing all morning. But I think you know where I was going with that initial statement.

vote-for1vote-against

Amazing Woot! You managed to do what every major news site with comments was unable to. Kudos. Seriously. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm very impressed.

vote-for1vote-against

@hobbit: any possibility of mac address banning?

vote-for1vote-against

@crycis805: I don't work for woot, I just live here. You would need to ask @jumbowoot or @shawnmiller about that.

vote-for1vote-against

@crycis805: I'm not sure it's possible for a website to reliably determine a visitor's MAC address. I don't know exactly how Woot handles blocking users, of course, but on the Internet, sites can single out and block users based on username (of course), IP address or range, user agent, or any other bit of information they have access to.

I have noticed this person http://deals.woot.com/deals/users/tawnos
They have been posting what seems like the whole catalog of things from two different stores. He's working on mosaic tiles now....(Thank you for collapsible deals from the same website!)

(Paging @shawnmiller and @jumbowoot)

vote-for1vote-against

@armagedon: he doesn't post that many deals why is it such a big deal? NOW probably his name should be @mosaics or something but you know he could have woot's blessing just like ocheri and other business owners. People relax......now if he was posting 20 deals a day that is something to be concerned about.

vote-for1vote-against

@hobbit: I guess that you're right. Now that I've looked at his website, it seems like each thing that he has posted is on sale. It just worried me when every time I looked at the fresh tab, it seemed like there was always a new mosaic tile thing at the top...

@armagedon: if you would like I can continue shopping for women's underwear and lingerie
