Any recommendations for portable air conditioners?
As spring turns into summer, I'd like to get an air conditioner, but the windows here don't support a window unit. I like the idea of at least trying a portable a/c unit, though nervous about noise and leaking water.
Any recommendations / deals for one that won't break the bank, while also not feeling like I'm living in a wind tunnel?

i'm in the same boat, i don't have real windows just really large glass doors that open. and my convector that works with "cold" water sucks.
from looking at the portable a/c's, there are some that don't leak water because they reuse the moisture water to run them over the coils or something. so they say you don't need to empty them.
if you get a regular one, only turn it on when you're there because it could spill water when you're gone at work or overnight somewhere, depending how large the collection bucket is.
read amazon or epinions reviews on whichever ones you consider purchasing. i've seen some used on CL
I have a soleus air ph1 that we got while I was waiting for our a/c to be replaced. It worked good, it was during summer here in Florida. It recycles the water but it needs to be vented to the outside via a sliding window or sliding door. Note it must be sliding. Mine is a few years old so I am posting a link that includes newer models as well.
