I've always liked otter, particularly river otters, but sea otters are pretty cool too. They're cute and fuzzy and always seem to be having a good time. Any animal that makes slides down river banks into the water just for the fun of it is pretty cool in my book.

I also like birds of prey. There's just something so majestic seeing a hawk or falcon or, better yet, an eagle, gliding on the thermal or diving to attack something. So very cool.

The swallow, for obvious reasons. ;)

Platypus. The more we learn about it, the stranger it becomes. As if it wasn't odd enough to find an egg-laying mammal in Australia, it turns out to also have a poisonous spine on its hind leg (males only). And they have teeth when they're in the egg, which they use to get out, and then lose. Their duck bills appear to sense electric waves in the water.
Though from my viewpoint perhaps the strangest is their genomes. We have yet to figure out how sexual selection works for them from a genetic standpoint; they seem to have at least 6 sex chromosomes. And of course we find a combination of reptilian and mammalian genes in the genome.

my favorite animal? i would have to say the stuffed one. now don't laugh just yet. let me explain:
the stuffed animal never holds it against you when you scream at them, they are always ready for a hug, they forgive you for leaving them alone for hours or days, they don't mind when you go on vacation and leave them behind, and don't care if you hug them until you fall asleep and roll over on top of them. also not having to feed, walk or liter box train is really nice to.

Okapi, hands down. Who doesn't love a foot-long blue tongue :P

Seriously though - I didn't even know they existed until I was in high school. My mom and I were joking around and she was pretending she knew all the words in the dictionary. I was flipping through and randomly picking words - she was getting them wrong until okapi. She had no idea what it was, but just guessed "small, horse-like creature", which was almost verbatum part of the definition in the dictionary I was using. I've been fascinated with them ever since.

According to Chuck Palahniuk my power animal is the Zebra so I'll go with that.

I don't know what my favorite used to be, but since I adopted a rabbit 10 years ago it's definitely now the bunnies.

They're cute, cuddly, curious, clever, clean, and a whole lot of other things that don't start with C.

The wild deals.woot noob. They have quite a deer-in-the-headlights look to them and generally a poor sense of situational awareness. Often known to haphazardly click on random links and hand money over willy-nilly without question.
Usually seen once or twice a week in the community; however, today there have been quite a few on the prowl.
With a seeming fear of FAQ links, they rarely respond to any offers of help. In fact, more often than not, other than their sometimes odd initial howl into the Deals wilderness, they are never heard from again.

“Just as the mother Wooter protects her young from spurious deal hyenas, you can protect your children with a policy from Mutual of Omaha.”

Can you really have a favorite.... we live on a farm and have dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, turkeys, cows, and of course the kids pets such a a hamster, a rat, a ferret, and my pet raccoon and we love them all as they all have their funny side and loveable side to them. But I guess if I had to pick it would be mans best friend the dog as they are always the always diligent and forgiving friend that you can rely on no matter the occasion.

@moosezilla: I thought you were trying to stop screaming at your stuffed animals. : D

All of them. But if I have to narrow it down, dogs, elephants, horses, manatees, rays.

I can't pick from among those.

@mkdr: That's funny, I also discovered okapi in the dictionary. I used the read the dictionary for fun (yeah. nerd) and came across the entry with an unlikely looking picture of one. I actually saw some okapi in an animal park once. They are as unlikely looking in real life as in the dictionary.

I love cats! But big felines like lions and tigers are especially gorgeous!
