Like Craigslist, it'll start off with good intentions, then the spammers and scamsters start screwing it all up for everyone else.

@narfcake: Ah, but the mods are much more active here. Would you agree or disagree

If only there were a place, like an auction house but online, that had some type of rating system so you'd know if the person you were buying from was reputable. Maybe some type of buyer protection in case of fraud, too. It'd be like some kind of electronic "bay" of sorts.

If only.

@rprebel: I see what you did there....and I like it!

I second the answer "no."

@rprebel: I'm not an e-seafaring individual.

What's the twist or the differentiators? Like others have said above, the population of users would quickly branch out from the woot crowd and become like every other site...

@unitcode: Unless they're actually involved in the middle of a transaction, a moderator is not in a position to intervene with something that goes awry.

@rprebel: Eclectic burgers and yogurt? Eggplant broccoli and yams? Extra big assorted yoyos? And maybe, just maybe, arrange some way in which one can easily pay your pal too.

@unitcode: I think everyone would agree that the mods are more active here on deals.woot, but that's not the problem. The problem lies in people actively trying to scam others, something that mods can't really control. For instance, if you were selling something, say an Xbox game, and I showed interest in buying it, I could say that I'd send you a check and you could send me the game at the same time. We'd both get our stuff, I'd play the game, you'd take the check to the bank, and everything would be great until your bank calls and tells you that the check bounced, thereby leaving you without the game or even the money. Now, think of that on a larger scale when the amount of money could possibly be in the thousands. The mods couldn't do anything really to prevent those types of scams, awesome though they may be.

I don't think it would be successful...Woot really doesn't have enough members right now to make it that effective.

Craigslist is so successful because, like with eBay, so many people (50+ million) use it.

@narfcake: Don't forget the option to Batch Image Name.

It would be nice, but I have to agree with @narfcake and @captainsuperdawg. There will always be the few, who will scam and mess it up for everyone else.

Nah....we already have craigslist. Though there are other sites like it, woot is another animal. I'd prefer it stayed in its genre.
