Can you recommend a dishwasher?
my pump on my dishwasher is dead. i have never liked this one anyway and want to replace it. i did search the archive questions and found: http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/109d7cf5-cb41-4a52-8a98-fc5bcf7d7cf2/dishwasher-find-me-one#22 from a year ago.
i need a built in model. would prefer energy effecient. looking in the 300-500 range, but would prefer lower end $. white. the frigidare i have is crap(rarely gets wet koolaid out of a glass). can anyone tell me is the tall tub style worth having? mostly i do dinner dishes for two. most of my bake/cook ware is professional-do not put in dishwasher-type. any info would be nice. thank you.

If your plates are large, the tall tub can help. Energy star is a bit overrated for a dishwasher IMHO ... the energy consumption in the heating element doesn't really change, which means it's the pumps that got smaller.
Simple, basic, and except for noise, review well: Amana ADB1000AWW at the Home Depot, $260.

There are several models of Amana/Maytag that are decent in the sub-$400 range too; they're all Whirlpool guts anyways. GE ... mid-range, they're fine; high end and low end, no. Frigidaire ... hit-and-miss.
Don't rule out craigslist either. I picked up a $1000 "panel-ready" Kitchenaid, new in box, for $300. The panel-ready part is simply by removing the white panel it came with, as that procedure was written right in the instruction manual.
I don't think a single answer has changed from when the question you pointed to was originally asked. I still have my same dishwasher, and I'm still just as happy with it. Although @hobbit no longer posts much, her advice was good, and @lavikinga also had excellent points. The last comment looks kinda spammy. I wouldn't click on those links myself.
I don't really have much to add from the original one, but want to congratulate you on doing your homework first, and showing that you'd honestly tried to see if the question had been covered before.
Frigidaire used to be a pretty good brand, back in the day, but that was a long time ago. Good luck on your search, and steer clear of Sears.
For large appliances I always check consumer reports to see what they have to say.
We have had a Maytag for the past 8+ years and love it. Never had a repair. We do about a full load every other day, so this puppy has done about 1500 loads now with no issues at all. The model we have has more vertical room on the left side of the bottom shelf than on the right. We love this feature because it allows us to put larger things that usual into the unit, but you may not care about that with your professional stuff. Would we buy another Maytag if this died tomorrow? You bet!
We purchased a tall tub Maytag last year that has some kind of casserole blasters in the rear of it to clean extra crusty ovenware. The top rack adjusts for height so we can put taller glassware on the top rack, or extra large plates on the bottom rack.
While it's not an ultra quiet machine, it's light years away from our earlier models. Dishes come out extremely clean in spite of having hard water--we currently use the Finish tablets or gel packs, depending on for which we have coupons.
We DID purchase it from Sears because we liked the 6 months same as cash deal. Nothing like making a large purchase using other people's money, interest free for a few months rather than taking the money out of our own accounts.
There's a guy named Henry at this local steakhouse. Best dishwasher I've ever seen, and he works for minimum wage.
That's what my dad said he had kids for, washing dishes and changing channels.
