No, but I would be suspicous. I give them a plus on the clean well put together website, but a place selling $400 factory unlocked iPhone 3GS's without saying what country they have them from makes me suspicous.

They do take Paypal, which filing a dispute with them has worked getting me a refund for something I bought after they told me it would take them 2 weeks to process my refund. Filed the dispute and they gave me the refund the next day.

Reviews seem to be saying you'll get the product but you will be waiting a few weeks for it.

Their about us page:
"Zwee is a new way of shopping. Social shopping. Rather than list products for you to buy in the traditional e-commerce fashion, we have helped compile customer reviews, customer buying guides and customer sourced auctions/listings. This way you can make an informed, "peer approved" decision on your purchase while getting it at the lowest possible price.
We at Zwee wish to grow the community. We not only provide buying guides, we hire our readers and members to write reviews of products they have already purchased and used. It's all about giving and getting help.
Why not sign up, leave a product review and get involved?!"

Here is an oddity, all their "competitors" are ebay postings.

vote-for1vote-against

If you are actually verifying vendors before you post deals, you are in a vanishingly small minority. Other than a few class acts like @catbertthegreat, I'm afraid we have a dearth of investigation before posting, and that includes some of the sponsored deals, too.

If I see continual interesting things posted from a site, and no complaints here about that site, I'll try it after a bit (I'm in the process of trying out meritline, for example).

The address you see is the aggress of the registered owner, but it could just be a drop box. The machine hosting that site hosts ONLY that site, and it's on Rackspace servers, so they can't be too shady (or Rackspace would dump them). Not saying they're wonderful, just pointing out details.

Here's a fun link: http://www.quantcast.com/zwee.com

In addition, you can always come ask here. I have the tools, the experience, the time, and I am always looking for entertainment. I am absolutely FASCINATED to see that nearly 1/4 the traffic to this site is from Ireland. What are they selling? Well, other than unlocked versions of every smartphone there is...

Alexa seems to think that this site is related to several different versions of eBay. That's not a plus. I could go on, but other things are distracting me right now...

Maybe I'll be back later.

@catbertthegreat: That their competitors are ebay postings is not at all surprising. Traffic to and from their site (according to Alexa) is 1. Google, and 2. ebay.

I love poking into stuff. This is just like a gift, but I have to go read evening logs. Back in a while...

Is this the address you see?

127 Santa Cruz Ave
San Diego CA 92107
United States

vote-for1vote-against

@shrdlu: I was suspicious of that. Some of their product postings refer to product shortages in Ireland and how they have a supply. That would also explain why items took 2 weeks to arrive in reviews because they may be shipping from Ireland.

vote-for1vote-against

@shrdlu: No worries about meritline. I order stuff from them regularly; everything's been exactly as stated.

vote-for2vote-against

@shrdlu: The 127 Santa Cruz Ave is indeed what I'm seeing. Apparently numbering is more in the four digit range for this street.

I was also surprised by the whois having no phone number attached. Usually poorly formatted phone numbers is an easy way to spot a drop box.

I had suspected that maybe they were really selling rip offs or from another country. Hadn't gotten too much further in my exploration to determine. I'm glad that you're having fun investigating and I'm happy to listen to what you have to say.

vote-for1vote-against

@smasumur: That address does not exist, and cannot. That particular street is very short. It's not even possible that it's a drop box. Santa Cruz Ave deadends into the ocean on one direction, and into a cul-de-sac on the other. From now on, we must all make the effort to tattle on each and every deal from this place, since they are hidden auctions, and appear to be confused about ethics as well.

I need more coffee...

[Edit] Actually, I am now wondering why you asked? Fortunately, there is not a deal posted from this site (I just checked) here, but that doesn't mean that there were never deals. Staff is pretty diligent about deleting the truly deserving.

vote-for3vote-against

I just realized that the so called blog entries on the site show a last updated stamp. Well, the entries haven't changed in the few days I've been investigating but the update time stamp suspiciously shows the current day.

Hmm, it does seem too good to be true. Time to keep shopping elsewhere.

@shrdlu: I asked because I was searching for a deal on Wii systems and came across this. Before I went ahead and posted it, I hoped to vet it out. And now what we all know, we can make sure it doesn't appear here.

zwee is a bunch of crap and they owe me a steak!! That bull about negative feedback just coming from their competitors is lies. I just got married and have very little money for christmas let alone my nieces bday which is in four days.. i was searching for a psp for her real cheap and came across zwee and was trying to buy one that was listed for 77 dollars.. my order continually wouldn't go thru.. SO i called them... no answer!! sent a email to them.. got a response email that said they would get back to me.. a few days later sent another email.. no response letter that time..called still no answer.. so for everyone out there don't waste your time with this site.. you"ll only end up frustrated and annoyed!!

vote-for1vote-against

@techisaloser: SAME HERE! recieved this message upon checkout "FATAL FAILURE" and no response to phone message ;(

vote-for1vote-against

They have two phone #'s listed on their website, and each one picks up on the second ring, then states they have such a high call volume (doesn't matter what time of day or night you call, always the same message), to please leave a message, and a rep will call ya back (not happening). I've left several messages, along with emails form their website, and no response. Guessing the "too good to be deal" is a fact with them??? Sure was hoping I was wrong, but I think not.

vote-for0vote-against

@debupnorth: thats because i think when you check out in you get that failure notice there actually just getting your credit card information to rob you later..i looked on youtube about scam from nigeria where they set up ebay accounts saling products they dont even have they just take your credit card information are bank information and dont send you the product..i came on this site because when i went to zwee they were selling a laptop for 349.00 and i looked at the whole site and it seem un profesional they even have curse words and i rhought let me look more into this and with all the comments i see on here it sounds just like a scam to get bank account information.

vote-for0vote-against

TGTBT- DO NOT GIVE them your information!! I just tried an order and got the same "fatal failure" page many get- even after multiple tries from different IPs. The checkout page should say "thank you for your information". It's a simple phishing site. It's like they read the reviews and then post reasons to disregard what people are saying. If only we could collect on those free steaks they promise- {enter here for your free steak} link will probably be added very soon.

No, this website isn't legit. I haven't seen anywhere on the Internet where someone has actually bought something from them. I went to their site because they have the magic mouse available for $25 cheaper than everyone else. The ad for the magic mouse is a few years old, but the price (and the "add to cart" link) are still the exact same. They also have the iPad mini available for $30 cheaper than anyone else, which would be impossible since it was just released. They say that they can afford the low prices because it leads to more people buying from them again, but that makes no sense. They also say that it will take a few weeks to get your product, which is just one way for them to buy time. I think the main scam is getting your card/paypal information. It seems that they send you to a phishing website, not the real Paypal. I would not go anywhere near these guys -- they are obviously from out of the country. You will lose whatever money you planned on saving by "buying" from them.

I just went on zwee because i was looking for an xbox and they where selling it for $97. I saw some thing fishy so i looked it up, as far as i can tell it is illegial.

I just went to Google Earth and searched Zwee headquarters. I brought me two Florida to a big shipping place with on of those little red A's that has a link to the website. I see no reason for them to buy a large storage/shipping facility if they are just phishing. I also have a friend that bought a 4th gen iPod and they got it with no problems.
