Right now, I've been trying to find some cheap .223/5.56 ammo with free shipping.

and just recently picked up some stuff from http://www.botachtactical.com/blackwater.html (free shipping on everything, awesome prices)

[ed]
I also picked up one of these: http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Model-Ergonomic-Pistol-Grip/dp/B003TWVGDQ/

Looks like an awesome grip. It's got palm swells and it's kind of rubberized for traction. It's gotta storage compartment too.. Looks awesome for the price.

@rlapid2112: Yeah, my first thought on that laser was 1911 or something like that - something widely used.

vote-for5vote-against

Oh, yes I'm a gun nut. I've purchased several gun related items and ammo listed on Deals.Woot and some gun lights from another Woot site (can't remember which one - but was surprised to see Woot offering it). My understanding is that guns themselves cannot be posted within the Woot universe.

vote-for5vote-against

I DO like guns! I don't go shooting as much as I would like though. Darn job and real life commitments... I have several guns for target shooting/hunting/self defense. My favorite though is my Glock 19 that I've had for about 8 years. Man, I love that thing!

vote-for4vote-against

@nortonsark: Yeah, guns and ammo were cut not too long ago. That's why I figured it'd be nice to have a little thread that we could post stuff like that when we find good deals..

We're circumventing the system :D REBELLION!

vote-for4vote-against

@scarabkafer: heh yeah I have that problem too... plus, our local range just got shut down. It was an AWESOME outdoor range 100-300+ yards down range, nice stands, targets, everything. And it was empty like 80% of the time. Even had outhouses :D

So now I'm SOL, need to find a new place..

vote-for5vote-against

another shwooter checking in.

i'd love to take advantage of the gun accessory deals that get posted, but that pesky mortgage payment keeps getting in the way!

vote-for5vote-against

@carl669: Hopefully with our combined shWooter might we can dominate - and find deals good enough to allow us to shoot, while still maintaining our cheapness :)

vote-for5vote-against

@drchops: it's always the ammo that's the most expensive. i've been mulling over getting a .22 plinker just so i can go shooting on a regular basis. it's gets costly shooting the glock 21!

vote-for5vote-against

@drchops: Rest assured that if we find links to firearms or ammunition in this thread, they will be removed.

All told.

vote-for6vote-against

I just got into shooting the beginning of this summer. I picked up a Bersa 380 this summer for "home protection". It's a great little gun, and easy to conceal.

I do have the proper licensing in my state (Concealed Weapons Permit) to carry concealed.

I've enjoyed shooting Clay Pigeons with my 20 gauge as well.

I also have a Sig Sauer Mosquito (.22 cal) that is fun to plink around with. Along with a break apart 410 that my dad gave me when I was a kid.

vote-for4vote-against

@jumbowoot: heh that was a joke - not trying to start a rebellion...but I think you misunderstood me.

I get that some people are anti-gun, and that you guys aren't in the business of upsetting peoples sensibilities. I'm not talking about posting deals - I know that's a no-no and completely respect that - I'm just talking about communicating solely in this thread.

[ed] I should add to that, that I'm well aware you don't need me to respect or be okay with anything :) - just thought I'd share.

vote-for6vote-against

I wouldn't call myself a gun nut, though I am about half paid on my NRA EPL (Easy Pay Life) membership. (My older daughter got hers before she turned 18 and the younger one is already saving up for hers.) I rarely have time to get to the range (my club meets Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, neither of which is all that convenient for me) but it is always great fun when I do.

I have a Kimber 1911 (Stainless Target II) in .45 ACP and a Sig P230 (.380) also in stainless. For the Kimber, I have a Marvel .22 conversion kit with two tops (one with iron sights, the other with a pitcanny rail that has a cheap dot sight on it).

Aye. Card carrying gun carrier.
And as my husband likes to say, "Larry Potterfield has my children's tuition money." BTW, Mr. Potterfield is as nice in person as he appears in his commercials.

vote-for4vote-against

Well, of course you knew I was.

vote-for4vote-against

@atomicorange: ha...that's crazy, I'm surprised I didn't see that question before now

Unless some kind of politically-fueled argument got started in there, it would appear we have quite a few Wooter-shooters :)

I'm gonna go read those comments

vote-for2vote-against

Does anyone have any experience with Del-Ton (DTI)? Or even know anyone who does? From what I've heard so far, most people would pick them over DPMS (my other choice)..

I'm probably going to be getting this in the near future:
http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1007.htm

(On sale at a reseller for like $380 + 1 year warranty)

This is my gun

And this one's for fun
(And also for for repelling mutant zombie hordes)

As someone who lives near a city that had the highest per capita murder rate... the only time I hear guns is when someone is being killed.
Making extended magazines available on Woot! only allows people to kill 10 more people before reloading.

vote-for1vote-against

@wuz314159: Thank you for that enlightening and incredibly intelligent statement.

It was obviously very well thought out.

vote-for1vote-against

@wuz314159: Wow... Simply wow... The people you will find here on Woot! will not be the ones you see killing others like you suggest. The ones who typically commit these types of crimes get their guns, ammo & other "tools" by illegal means.

vote-for1vote-against

@kevskoolkars: There are 6000 registered guns in México and 2000 guns illegally cross the border from the US every DAY. Most are bought easily, legally here in the US and transported over the border.

I just don't believe guns & gear should be easier to obtain than sexual lubricant.

vote-for2vote-against

@wuz314159: Cough (profanity) cough Your numbers are so fictitious it's not even funny.

vote-for1vote-against

@wuz314159: "I just don't believe guns & gear should be easier to obtain than sexual lubricant."

Well, at least we agree on this point. (They should be equally easy to get for anyone capable of safely and intelligently using them.)

Since woot allows neither guns and ammo nor sexual lubricant, you should be happy. (Woot does allow some other gun related items, just as they allow some other sex related items.)

vote-for1vote-against

@kevskoolkars: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/03/05/push-halting-guns-mexico/

In two years, a new effort to increase inspections of travelers crossing the border has netted just 386 guns -- an almost infinitesimal amount given that an estimated 2,000 slip across each day.

vote-for3vote-against

@wuz314159: lol...it's okay guys, the Fox News website said it - it's gotta be true.

How does getting less than 400 guns in 2 years equate to "almost 2,000 per day?"

1,460,000 guns...they get 386.

[ed] I feel like I read that wrong...is that right?

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: I feel the figure is exaggerated, but, I do believe there is a steady flow of weapons from the US into Mexico. International arms dealers are also selling weapons to the Mexican (drug) cartels. What I do wonder, are any of those firearms making their way into the hands of Mexican citizens, not just criminals?

I have other thoughts on the drug war and such, but this is a wooter & firearms enthusiast thread, not a political rant page.

@wuz314159, I understand (a little) your viewpoint, but respect this thread. If you need a forum to air your thoughts, ask your own question; there are plenty of anti-gun folks out there.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Hey, you were looking for a deal on an VLTOR stock right?

Tango down grip, foregrip + Modstock for $79 + free shipping

http://www.botachtactical.com/tapade.html

That's actually about what that stuff would cost China-style heh.. pretty sure you don't need any of that other stuff, but figured it was worth mentioning on the chance..

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: That's a great deal. I wish it was black or FDE.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: That's what DuraCoat is for :D

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: I tried to edit my post but it was too late..

$2.25 cent snap caps (9mm on up)

http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/e380ecb2-daf9-4711-881e-ea462808364a/snap-caps-from-9mm-to-12-gauge

I'm going to add that to deals when I get done.. [ed] I decided to add it while I was typing this lol...so bam.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Forgot to mention, I finally got that DTI upper (http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1023.htm) I changed my mind at the last second and got the heavy barrel heh (The fact that it wasn't on sale had a little to do with it..)

I'm looking for a good/cheap optic...Is there anything like that Bushnell you have but cheaper? (A "budget" licensed HOLOsight) If nothing else I'll try to find a used Bushnell like yours..

In the process of trying to find one, I've come to the painful realization that you can't find anything on Amazon. They have no Bushnell's. Bummer.

vote-for2vote-against

looking at your AR, I think I may go two-tone in the near future (probably based off of that Chi-ModStock lol which I think was like coyote brown)

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: I got my Bushnell off ebay. Here is one that I have heard is pretty decent (red dot): http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Trophy-TRS-25-1xRed-Riflescope/dp/B00200E0HM

I like my 2-tone. Additionally, I picked the color for my environment.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: I've checked out those red dots...my brother actually just got this one http://www.amazon.com/UTG-lden-Image-Green-Sight/dp/B001BQZSZ4/

It's sturdy and dead accurate...I just want that 65MOA circle/dot :D I love that EOTech sight picture. Probably gonna have to settle for the single dot though..

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: Agreed on the circle & dot. Downside: My Bushnell CHEWS through the batteries. Even when off.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Yeah, I'll bet...when I got my knock-off EOTech, I actually made sure to get the one that takes CR123(A?). Obviously not somethin' you're gonna find in your kitchen cabinet or in your remote, but the life is quite a bit better (I think..)

I just had a thought...my CHIOtech is a little dim, I wonder if I could get a little more brightness out of it if I tweaked it a little or put a beefier cell in it heh. Gonna check on that.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Do you know much about optics?

I've been comparing a lot of different kinds lately, and I've noticed that simple tube optics are a lot more expensive than the single-window sights...even though the single window ones have a lot more features..

Any idea what makes the tube style better? (I'm not 100% confident my terminology is right so I'm not using it heh :D)

These are just examples of what styles I'm talking about..
(Single window)
http://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Shotgun-Pistol-Red-Green-Reticle/dp/B004DDJNOY/

(tube-style)
http://www.amazon.com/Tasco-30mm-Rifle-Scope-Reticle/dp/B000GF1HKQ/

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: I really don't. I also have an Aimpoint CompC3 2x. It will last for 5 years turned on at 30% brightness. 5 years of continuous use, wow. Anywho, it is a tube-style, red-dot site and works great. I loaned it to my son until he can buy his own. I really like the circle & dot, floating out in front of my rifle, but the red-dot is not hard to use. The great thing about the Eotech, is your peripheral sight-picture is better. While you're looking down you sight, you can see what's going on around you. It is only slightly reduced using the Aimpoint.

BTW, ACOGs are HORRIBLE in this respect. You have to have your eye right on the scope. If you look at the how people mount their optics, Aimpoints are mounted midway down the rifle, Eotechs are mounted midway down the upper reeceiver, and ACOGs are mounted as close to the stock as possible. Eye relief is so important in situational awareness.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: That's pretty damn impressive...recently, this is what's caught my fancy

http://www.meprolight.com/default.asp?catid={FB082B33-316B-4335-BFDE-CB5789562D8C}&details_type=1&itemid={FD44627E-1FD3-4811-969B-D59CE751DD4A}

Tritium - 12 years, and damn near indestructible. No electronics, no moving parts, etc.. So it's basically everything proof (you might already know that stuff, still cool though heh)

[ed] This stuff - of course - is on my "When I find it for impossibly cheap" list heh

vote-for1vote-against

@drchops: I am pretty sure the Meprolight is a licensed version of this:
http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product1.php?id=Reflex

Which is AWESOME! I want one of these also, but $$$ dissuades me.

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: This might work for you:

If I didn't have any optics, I would definitely go for this.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Dunno how much you like that Bushnell, but I did happen upon something pretty awesome :D

$69.99 w/ $30 MIR

@drchops: It has pretty good reviews. Guys are mounting them on their AKs and they stay zeroed. That's a pretty good price.

vote-for2vote-against

@rlapid2112: Pretty good? That's an AMAZING price. AMAZING. :D

(I watched that nutnfancy review and he paid like $120~ and was happy).

Think I'm goin for it. I was going to grab a Leapers or a Truglo circle-dot style, but as much good stuff as I've heard about that I'd be stupid not to get it at that price..

vote-for2vote-against

@drchops: Agreed. The CTD price is $80 before shipping.

BTW, a Meprolight Mepro 21 was sold on ebay 2 days ago for $220, shipped. I shoulda jumped on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/260886967861?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht500wt1361

@rlapid2112: I need your expert opinion..

I'm torn between:

and
http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Trophy-TRS-25-1xRed-Riflescope/dp/B00200E0HM/

I'm a sucker for those fancy reticles.. although, all they really are is another thing that can go wrong.

vote-for2vote-against

I still like the TRS-25 for its field of view, weight, & size. More rail space means you could install a magnifier, too.
