I also have thick stubble, but I only shave every 2-3 days as you do. There are many reasons, including laziness, but mostly I don't shave everyday because I don't have to. I think a clean shave was previously considered mandatory for professional business dress. But, just as business casual is now the norm for the workplace instead of suits and ties, so is "neat grooming" the standard when it comes to facial hair. That would include a couple days of stubble, but would not include wilderness man neck beards.

Of course the main reason I shave as often as I do is because my wife tells me to! :-)

I shave every other day during the week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and not at all on the weekends. If there's an event I am going to attend, then I'll shave to look more presentable. My schedule is based on 2 reasons:

1) My neck is super-sensitive. When I shave every day, I get nasty razor burn and it looks like I'm breaking out in something from the neck down. Not enjoyable to look at.

2) My wife prefers me with stubble. My mom and other family members prefer me clean-shaven all the time, but they don't live with me. Happy wife, happy life.

I haven't shaved in almost 2 years now. There is a point where is doesn't itch anymore. I figured once I got past that, there was no point in shaving a couple times a week. I got a good buzz cutter with a variety of guards. Winter means 3/4" or 1" guard, summer is 1/2" or less depending on many variables. Either way, Not shaving is AWESOME!

So my initial findings are as follows:

The days of the shave are gone for the Gen X, Gen Y and whatever they call the kids generation today that can't shave yet.

Wives decide the time to shave

We're not lazy we're just going with the flow

I'm 25 and I shave everyday with a 4 blade manual razor. Just for reference, I'm an engineer, slacks and a button up are work approprite attire with a tie when I have a meeting.

edit: and I live in NC

I am an engineer, too. Blue jeans without holes in them and any shirt that isn't a T-shirt is acceptable attire, even when meetings call.
I shave 2 to 3 times a week, except in winter; then it is only once a week. I shave once I get itchy.
I hate shaving, but I can't grow a decent beard. :-/

I shave everyday...sometimes I skip a day on weekends if I'm not going out. I shave like a man with a DE razor during the week and a straight razor on the weekends.

In my profession I must be clean shaven, and I have taken up DE's and SR's as I have less ingrown hairs shaving with them, and I like maintaining my own blades.

It's not always easy putting a blade to face everyday, but with a little experience and a well stocked kit, it can be made a little more enjoying.

Everyday - new razor every third day (Schick Extreme 3 disposable w/ aveno "free" shaving cream)

Haven't shaved my face since around Thanksgiving; I'm from pretty hairy stock so I had a pretty full beard after ~2.5 weeks. I just shave the front of my neck every few days now and trim the moustache.

A couple years ago I was shaving every day M-F and letting my face rest on the weekend. Then I cut it to MWF, then later TuTh, then eventually only when I felt like it. For my job it didn't really matter how often I did (or did not) shave.

I have to shave my face everyday. To be truthful, if I'm going out I shave twice a day. I shave my scalp (CAPT Picard and I have the same barber) 3 or 4 times a week, depending upon what is going on.

Usually every day. I never try to go more than 2 days without shaving in case I need to wear my SCBA. But, I do generally shave every day during the week, but may slack off on the weekend.

Weird, we had a call for a structure fire 30 seconds after I posted this. See.. that's why I shave regularly! :-)

Daily. My neckbeard gets out of control.

I have shaved a total of 4 times since I was old enough to grow a full beard, which is about 7 or 8 years now. I'm far too lazy to shave every day, and I enjoy having a beard, so it works out well!

I stopped shaving daily the day I got out of the Air Force. I also have a full beard but I shave my neck and cheeks a few times a week so it doesn't look like I'm slowly turning into the wolfman.

Every day for me, with a DE Feather blade. I'm a mid-20s engineer, FYI, and at least in my circle this seems to be the norm.

I shave once a week out of laziness, but I should be shaving every two or three days. I wear a full beard anyway so it's less obvious when I need to shave than it would be if I stayed clean, but my neck is always a good indication. Two days pass and it looks like I haven't shaved at all. Facial hair is fun

I too wondered this question (seeing my dad shave everyday growing up and continuing to do so now).

I'm 25 now and shave about every other day or when I'm attending something important -- it's very true about the wife comment -- gotta keep her happy!

Hell No. I hate shaving, but luckily i don't have to super often and it doesn't really matter if I'm clean shaven or not. If it did it may be different. I just hate the feeling of being clean shaven and it makes me look really young.

You youngins with the infrequent shaving ritual let me know how often you start shaving when the grey starts coming in... :D

Nope..I shave once a week and when i finally shave, it comes right off and my face thanks me for it. i also shave in the shower, using the hottest water possible. Shaving everyday is torture on your face.
