Where's the best buy for Holiday decorations right now?
I bought a house about a year ago and opted not to decorate much last year. I didn't own much, and I had too much other unpacking to do. "I'll buy stuff at post-Christmas sales" I vowed.
Here I am 11 months later, and I still don't own enough to deck my halls. I'm looking for the best deals on the following items; I'd like them to last a while and preferably not cost an arm and a leg to ship:
- long lengths of white/clear LED string or icicle lights to border my roof line
- a tree-worth of ornaments
- tree skirt
- full-looking artificial garland, one 16' and one 5' -ish
- other ideas to "fill up" my home
(I have stockings, mistletoe, chargers, centerpiece, a few candle holders, etc)
I have Amazon Prime, but it's been failing me since most items I find aren't eligible. I saw some string LED lights on a reel (67' for $24.32) at Sam's Club, but I'm wary since I can't find reviews on them.
On a budget; help me out, Wootesphere!
I went budget mini lights this year just because the price was so great. I picked up a set of 100 (4 sets actually) for $1.98 each at Home Depot yesterday afternoon. We did the old fashioned C9 lights along the roofline again this year and had to replace two strands @$7 and change. Got those at our local Ace Hardware because HD didn't seem to be carrying them.
Walmart has several sets of unbreakable ornaments in loads of different colors. I'm not keen on them but the deals look pretty good. They also have a variety of glittery ornaments at $1 ea.
Your Dollar Stores sometimes have little gems hidden away. I found several bell strung doorknob hangers there along with lots of pretty wire edged decorating ribbon for wreathes and garland. Lots of poinsettias to put in your own arrangements too.
QVC had some deals on garland and greenery a few days ago. I got caught by their "YOU MUST have this" while flipping thru the channels.
thanks @lavikinga! ATC just isn't very helpful with so many of my favorite Black Qones gone. :(
@perkalicious11: I know :( It feels a bit bah-humbuggy without them. I hate to send you there, but BigLots is having a sale on decorations. Most of the stuff is utter crap, but you might hit on something you can revamp.
@lavikinga: I've actually had some luck at Big Lots in the past finding overstock stuff crazy-cheap, but I'd forgotten about them! I'll check them out with a grain of salt too. :)
@perkalicious11: Go online to the website to see the local circular. We got one today with the rest of the junk mail.
