What is the best software for making a photo slideshow?
I have to make a slideshow for a family party in the next couple of weeks. I have ton of pictures that I have to get digitized, and I was originally going to have the slideshow done by the same people that are scanning the pics. However, I have run out of time (not my fault) and need to do it myself. So far Roxio looks the best, but I don't have any experience turning it into a DVD (I have to buy it first). Anyone have experience with these programs?
I have personally done a couple with Picasa (free download), but my nephew did one for my parents' 50th Anniversary party when he was only 14, using only whatever comes with Windows.....and his was much better. Better transitional effects, better captioning, nice music dubbing, etc. Looked very professional. Also free.
Maybe you'd be better off spending your $ to hire a teenager to do it rather than buying new software? LOL <---I only laugh, b/c I apparently should have done the same thing. :-)
Hm, good idea. too bad I dont know any teenagers :) I will have to check out my laptop and see what kind of fancy software it has - I think it has something now that you mention it.
I have used windows movie maker and movie maker live many times. It took a bit to get the hang of it, but it has a lot to offer for stock software.
Another vote for movie maker here. It worked fine for my kids' HS graduations.
thanks all. I will check out movie maker tonight and see what it has to offer. I definitely like the idea of doing it myself rather than paying someone a couple hundred $ - that seems crazy. Paying someone a nominal fee to scan a zillion pictures because I don't have time is one thing, but making the slideshow is something else.
Add one more vote for Windows Movie Maker! I've done some pretty nifty things with it. Very user friendly once you get the hang of it, everything is drag and drop...you can easily add an "intro" as well as "credits" or a description of each picture if you need.
Holy cow! Windows Movie Maker looks awesome! I made a practice slideshow and it was so easy - I'm really glad I didn't shell out any extra $$ for a fancy program. Thanks for all the tips everyone!
@mkdr: Aren't you glad you asked here first? LOL
Happy it's working out for you---I may have to start playing with it myself now (instead of Picasa.)
Let us know how it turns out and how the (as we say down here in the South) git-together goes!
