questionswhere do you get a boot bot, or a woot analyzer?

for the web, just do a search for woot-rss feeds.

for smartphones just do a search in the appstore or play-market or whatever. for "woot" that is how I found some.

Or do a search for questions about which one other wooters use.

I'm really happy with mywoot.net.

@magic cave: @theant: @moosezilla: I guess the follow-up question should be, "Have you ever gotten any BOC's by using one of these trackers/feeds?"

vote-for5vote-against

@barnabee: umm... no, but I blame my connection, I have never been able (except once) to get to the order screen of a BOC before it was sold out. the only BOC I have ever actually recieved was one one of the few non-woot-off days, it was a webpage game and I got it beofe it sold out.

I use woot watcher on android. it's free, has many notification options, and it usually tells me of a new item before the webpage does. Most of the woot apps tap into the woot RSS feed, which is updated moments before the webpage is, which can take a minute or two to be reflected on your computer depending on what (if any) kind of cache-ing your ISP or other servers are doing on your behalf.

@barnabee: no carrots, but i have caught a couple things that sold quickly that i wouldn't have known were even offered.

@theant: @moosezilla: Thanks for the info. I did not know that these "thingys" can tell when a new item comes up. That could be a pretty cool thing to know. I'll have to take a look at them.

I've read the conversations at Woot! about trackers. I'm not really convinced that they can help in getting a BOC. I think it may just be plain ol' luck--being in the right place at the right time. Maybe.

@barnabee: lots of luck... the only thing I use the tracker for is notification of new items. There have been times (like with a bag) when the tracker says "new item" and it sells out and the next one comes up before the webpage has even been updated to "sold out" on the previous item that had been sitting there for hours. (or so it seems)

@barnabee:

I also use mywoot.net, at least on PCs and during a woot-off. On my Android devices (phones and tablets), I've been using WootWatcher in push mode (which improves performance and reduces data usage).

I've also started looking at Woot Check on my Android devices though so far I think WootWatcher's push mode (only available to paying users) is more useful than Woot Check's other features.

Note however that none of these is a bot (they won't buy an item for me) but only serve to monitor the woot sites for item changes.

As for getting Barrels of Creosote with one of these apps, they definitely make it easier to keep up with a woot-off since I don't have to sit there hitting F5. However, my BoC success rate was basically the same before I started using them.

@barnabee: No, but only because I'm seldom home or online at the right time.

@baqui63: I just got through trying out mywoot.net. (Note to self: Check volume before using.) So, after almost suffering a heart attack when the rooster crowed, AND, it woke up the cat, I have decided that I do like mywoot.net. It really is nice to know when a new item comes up for sale.

I like to try for the BOC's on my desktop computer. I have an android tablet, but my PC has a better internet connection, I think. Anyway, I feel more comfortable with it and I have been successful a few times. I'm just not sure if I would rely upon mywoot.net to let me know that it's time to try for a BOC. I'll have to play with it.

BTW congrats on your BOC, last round. Now, I think I'll go and play with some sound effects. Thanks for your help.

@magic cave: Yeah, I'm often gone or busy doing other things, too.

vote-for2vote-against

@barnabee: Well, here's an update: I was actually sitting at my computer when mywoot.net went off. I thought I got into the tussle really, really fast, but evidently not fast enough.

Dang.

@magic cave: Hang in there! I still think there will be one more round (the Woot page did not show a "Sellout Time"). Maybe the last round will be tonight.

@barnabee:

You're welcome. Tonight I downloaded wootalyzer so I will check it out (several people in the chat suggested it).

vote-for2vote-against

@barnabee: mywoot.net has a siren for a BOC in lieu of a rooster. That's how I got mine.

I'm really grateful that you all took the time to answer my question!! I've s noticed when people talk about Woot bot, and woot analyzers, but I couldn't quite follow along
Thank you
