popularity unattainable?? the HORROR!

there are several deals in the "fresh" section that have tallied up several votes, and some of them are excellent deals, yet the popular page has it's doors to newcomers today..

have we hit our maximum capacity for popularity? is this a cruel joke by the woot gods? or is the popular tab just broken again?

well to those of you who posted deals that i voted on, don't fret... you will always be "popular" in my eyes..

seems that deals that have been posted for the past couple of hours aren't even showing up. So there must be a larger bug than just stuff being stuck on fresh.

well my first comment didn't post so i reposted the 2nd one. Anyway I looked over the deals and it seems like the votes are picking up now. We will see some new popular items soon.

@lavikinga: I agree.
That would be interesting stats to see: does voting/posting increase by users in areas that have bad weather? I guess that would be difficult to capture, unless you just look at winter vs. summer stats.

go make comments in the deals sometimes that helps.

Yeah, it's been really quiet here since yesterday evening. Maybe the weather is great everywhere and people are outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature?

I noticed that too. Maybe there are just less people around. My deals today have gotten a lukewarm reception (and NO, don't go vote now out of pity!). But the Popular page does have an eerie frozen quality today. Maybe I'll stop tattling on duplicates and let one of the duplicates get to Popular :)

Geez, why so negative?

You have to vote up more before you can vote down.

Don't get us wrong. Negativity has its place. And downvotes are just as essential as upvotes when it comes to making Deals.Woot a useful place to find deals.

But when your votes lean so heavily toward the dark side, we have to wonder. Go vote up a few things. Accentuate the positive for a little while. It'll do you some good, and it'll do the site some good, too. Then you can get back to dealing out the smackdowns, OK?

See, we do a lot of stuff with your vote, using it to work out the popularity of what you voted for, compare that to all the other things voted on, tally up our leaderboard, work out your reputation. Someday we'll do a little cartoon showing just how hard your vote is working.
