What did you do/have to do to become "Worthy" of a jumbowoot coupon?
I find myself liking and visiting the woot community more and more, but I’m still new. Just what does it take to get a jumbowoot coupon?
Tks for being original.

I'm fairly certain it's a matter of having a certain reputation as of a certain date. I've only ever had one, and it was when my rep was over 90%.
It's a secret known only to Woot staff, and it is based on different things.
I got one for triangle color once, and the last one for the number of days active at Deals.Woot during the month of November. The next one will be for ... whatever Woot and @JumboWoot decide it will be for. (And, yes, I did just end a sentence with a preposition, if that's something you want to grumble about. :-)
I've had two coupons. Once, I was involved in their busiest activity day, the other I will quote (by the way, I'm not sure I even had a 50% score until a few weeks ago):
"Anyway, I was looking at all the folks that came to the site last month and I realized that you were here and active at least 10 days in November so I added a $10.00 coupon to your account."
It seems like I've answered this before. More than once, actually ... :-D
Still, I don't mind. It's a clever method for encouraging behavior that benefits Deals dot Woot. I've been surprised by a couple of the items chosen. One month, people who had "Yesterday's Community Pick" on the Leaderboard got an iPod (or perhaps it was an iTouch; I don't remember). Another time it was a free crab voting shirt, if you'd been voting up deals on the day of the Crab Invasion. This last one was prorated according to the days you'd spent on the site in November.
If you were active (voting on things, posting questions, posting deals, tattling on things that needed to be reported on for one reason or another), you got a coupon. Active all 30 days got $40, and then lesser amounts for less activity. There's a ton of posts about any given coupon. Just search for "thanks" and "jumbowoot" and you'll find them.
@shrdlu: Oooooooooh, I had a community pick this month. I was so excited I even screen-shotted it. I had no idea I might also be rewarded for it.
Kind of excited now.
@shrdlu: Agreed. This was my earlier response to someone wishing they had a coupon:
@crazyusmarine: It depends on how hard you want to work to get one. I didn't expect my coupon, I just was active enough to get one. Is it worth the time to get a coupon for you? Not sure. I was on about 1/2 the days last month and received my coupon, I believe my second. It's looking at the leaderboard link, looking at your dashboard, and figuring out if it's worth your time to get the coupon. If I based it purely on amount of time spent, it wasn't worth the coupon code. However, the coupon wasn't the goal of my being active last month, and I'm certainly not going to refuse the code.
I don't know how "worthy" I was, but I satisfied the condition they looked for in November. The best thing you can do is to just enjoy the site for what it is. Vote up good Deals. Post your own good deals. Ask good questions. Try to be helpful where you can. Vote up good comments.
I recommend against doing too much voting down (or even any). I'd rather just vote up all the comments around someone, although I admit to voting down things that are meant to be mean.
{I always wonder if JW expected the perfect storm of activity all those coupons have caused?}
[Edit] @yrguide: I'll let you down easy. So far, JW has not repeated an incentive. They've all been unique (and I find that danged impressive).
@shrdlu: Ah, I can still bask in the satisfaction of being the #1 deal ninja for that day anyway. Thanks :-)
I brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire. That sort of nailed it for me.
So offering to babysit his kids for $3 a hour ain't gonna do it? Rats.
Exactly, one does not question the motives of the mighty Jumbo Woot, for he works in mysterious ways dispensing deal based justice to all the denizens of the site he deems worthy. It's never (usually) for the same thing, for he is a fickle being, and bores of the same old thing easily. =)
Members of my household have gotten coupons in the past for:
*Being active on deals.woot every day in a month
*Being a black triangle at the end of a month
*Dropping a dead hooker in the lake for a member of the woot staff
*Voting for a sponsored deal
*Buying 3 random shirt.woot shirts
Yep, this question has been asked and answered many times. If you really want to know, just do a search in "Ask the Community". You will find the info you are seeking.
@justincredibleg: LOL! You really should warn people! I turned away from the keyboard with a mouthful of water just in time. Liquids and electronics do not mix. At least not in my little corner of the world.
read the duplicate questions already asked
@justincredibleg: Memo to self, whatever you do, do not agree to option #3.
