questionswhat would you like to see in a deals.woot…

I have perused both of those questions and I couldn't really find a good consensus on what people actually wanted. Hence the question

Fresh tab (with the ability to vote), search bar, and notifications.
Personally I would like it for both deals and questions.

Notifications might be tricky but I'm sure it could be done using the RSS feeds.
Just don't set it to data mine every 2 milliseconds for moofi deals.

I don't figure we have to ask you for more ponies.

But aside from that, a way to filter out tags; effectively a saveable advanced search that would feed the list.

@trahentis: Nope, no Ponies needed :)

And thanks for the input.

This would pretty much be the coolest thing ever. Let me know if we can help with any APIs.

The Android app "woot's up?" has deals.woot support. Currently it grabs the 15 most recent deals, the sponsored deals, and 15 moofi deals. It has basic search, plus you can set up a product notify search that plays a custom notification sound when it finds a match in the product name. I'm the author, so if you have suggestions, feel free to email me at support@graksw.com.

@robr: Your app is pretty sweet.

The deals.woot section could be bigger. I'm curious if the tracker will hold up in a woot-off as well as others.

I got really happy when I saw the notifications but then realized they worked only for the every dot-woot except deals. (maybe I'm wrong?) Search is pretty sweet and thanks for having it set to sort by most recent. Why woot doesn't do that has always confused me. I would suggest at least having search history or favorite searches an option if not notifications on new items.

Widget? I know, I'm asking for a lot.

It feels lacking without comments and voting and "view webpage" goes to the main page instead of the specific item you were looking at. Overall not bad at all and I will be using it so thanks.

@skippykj: Thanks for your comments. To answer your questions:

- I'm considering adding the ability to customize how many products it downloads vs. hard-coding as it is now. I didn't want to download too many products each time since it's slower and uses more battery. That can be important during woot-offs since it updates every minute by default.
- deals.woot notifications are off by default. You can change this in Settings -> deals.woot Settings -> deals.woot Notify Enable. My thinking was new deals.woot products show up all the time (like every few minutes), so there wasn't much point to notify so frequently...there'll probably be something new whenever you look. Keep in mind it'll notify only when it downloads the feed again, which is by default 1 hour (normal) or 1 minute (woot-off). I have my normal notification update set to 15 minutes, BTW.
- Search history is almost done and will be in the next release.

@skippykj: ...and more answers...
- Thought about a widget...may do it later.
- Yeah, I wish I'd get more feedback too. The app's pretty new. Thanks for your comments! It's really helpful for me.
- In deals.woot, "I Want One!" button goes to the product page, where you can then go to the purchase site. The woot folks set up the feed links a bit opposite between deals.woot and the other woot sites. I was thinking "I Want One!" and "Full Website" should go to the same product page, or getting rid of one of the buttons for deals.woot. Do you have a preference?

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Update on the deals.woot "I Want One!" and "Full Website" buttons... I've figured out how to get "I Want One!" to go to the external non-woot web site to make the purchase. So I can keep both buttons and they'll behave similarly to the other woot site buttons. This should be in the next release.

@robr: Is there some data we could put into our feeds that would make this easier? Is there a place in RSS or ATOM where you would have expected the URL to take you to the store's website?

@promyst: Did @robr hijack your thread (I know it's a question, but thread sounds cooler)?

@rlapid2112 & @promyst: Apologies if so (sorry, got a bit carried away).
