Where is the best place to buy truffles (mushroom variety)?

I have the oil, butter, cheese, etc. Ready to step it up and use real truffle shavings. Local specialty market had mushroom pieces for about $120 an ounce. Should I be looking elsewhere, or is that about the going rate? I'm not expecting them to find bargain prices, but just wanted to make sure I'm not paying way too much. And of course, make sure I get a descent quality product.

So, obviously, it depends on the type of truffle you're after. For your Perigord and Alba, I'd say the price you've got there is about right, though I've very occasionally seen them for a tad low (~90$/oz). If you're just going with Oregon truffles (which I personally don't find as flavourful), you'll be at about a tenth of the cost.

In terms of where to buy, I've found a few at the local farmer's market, but the season's drawing to an end right now, so who knows how much luck you'll have. Still, you'll be able to more direct inspect/smell/feel the truffles before purchasing, which is nice.
