If it's with a service I'm already registered with, I might check it out, though I still might not vote on it if it's not to my liking. In other words, not good but not awful = no vote.

If it involves registering with another music service that I probably will not be interested in otherwise, then I don't see it as "free", and I might vote accordingly at that point ...

Not really. I wouldn't expect a lot of people on here to be excited about a free download of a Justin Bieber album, and rightly so. If I don't like the music, I don't usually vote on it, settling for leaving a snarky comment on the deal. Usually, if I downvote something like that, it's because the site looks kinda sketchy.

Basically, what @narfcake wrote above.

Almost nothing is actually free, so it comes down to whether or not the cost of the album (my email address, likely with my name & possibly my street address & phone number as well) is worth the content.

This is kind of like deals on Wii games for me: since I don't have a Wii, even a free game isn't all that useful to me. (I don't downvote them, nor do I downvote the free MP3 albums, but I understand people downvoting them, just as I understand people downvoting lingerie.)

Were they Nickelback albums?

Lol, not Nickelback. Mine was a Christmas sampler, on Amazon. And while I wouldn't download a Nickelback album, if it was free I wouldn't downvote it either, just because it's not my taste doesn't mean that it's a bad deal. :)

Yeah, it's hard. Most of my deal posts are music, and a few get downvotes, and no one has commented to leave any explanation, despite that my deal prices are always the best I can find at the time for the item, and the deals are never dupes.
