Did they specify whether the credit issues were on your part or THEIRS? They might be having a cash flow problem.

I attempted to purchase 2 things from them on 2 separate occasions.

1st time, my item got back ordered, so I called to cancel.
2nd time, I checked to make sure it wasn't back ordered and ordered only to receive a notification via e-mail of credit issues and when I attempted to order the same thing, it was out of stock.

I'm pretty sure its on their end. I already gave up on trying to give them business.

Their service has been iffy at best - I've ordered from them a couple of times. Thankfully though, they've usually been pretty good about resolving anything once you call them. However, the credit thing is new to me, and I've no idea what they mean by that e-mail - sorry!... Good luck!

I ordered the Brisco County set at or about the same time as you and had no problems and have received the DVD's. Looking at the comments here I will be hesitant to order from them again though. Good luck

I think your credit card may have been declined. I'd recommend that you check your bill to see if you went over your limit for the month, or if your CC company thinks you're a victim of fraud and put a hold on your account or something. gl

I've never had an issue with them. I did order something about 6 weeks ago that was backordered (only showed so, after I ordered.) They sent me two follow up emails to let me know they "hadn't forgotten about me" and another to tell me it was back in stock and shipping. They are also good because they didn't charge my card until it actually shipped. Still an A+ merchant in my mind.

My Paypal account is set-up using my checking account. There was no issue when this order was processed. I saw the charge from PayPal appear on my ledger at the bank's website, but now I can't find it. I can goto the bank and ask if the charges were ever there and if they (bank) and produce a copy proving deep discount wrong. Personally I think this is bad buisness practice and I would like to see DeepDiscount not allowed to post deals on woot anymore.

I also ordered the Brisco County DVD set via PayPal and had no issues. Ordered another box set from them with no issues either.

@steve8479: Not allowing posts from every vendor who ever had an irate customer would result in a very empty deals.woot site.

ResellerRatings.com is your friend. I ALWAYS do research on a reseller before buying from them for the first time, and if there's anything questionable I'll go elsewhere. I may be leaning a bit too far on the side of caution, but I just don't want to have to deal with the headaches that can result.

It appears that Paypal has dropped the ball on this issue. On Nov 22 or so PayPal put in a authorzation with my bank and never followed through to do the purchase. Fast foward to Dec 7, paypal tried to run it and were denied. I am currently on the phone with them (Deep Discounts) to process this order again. I just hope they honor the original price.

I ordered Wall*E on bluray from them for a pretty good price (don't remember exactly). The item was supposedly on back order for more than a month. I canceled and bought it for the same price from Amazon or something. But for that entire month, I heard nothing. And there's no way they couldn't fulfill an order for a normal bluray for more than a month. DD = fail.

Hey, Folks ~

I've ordered from DD for three+ years, now -- and have had some issues with long wait times, and out-of-stock notices coming a week or so after the purchase. So, it is possible that they charge our credit cards for some short-term financial gain and then cancel the items they never could supply in the first place. I heard a few years ago that they had been indicted for some kind of fraud, or mismanagement of funds (to he tune of two million dollars (or something like that), so... who knows?

Anyway, as a prior Poster noted: I've never had a problem with their Customer Service resolving any issues that have arisen, so I still order from them (actually, waiting on some items now!)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, ALL!

This is not about an unhappy customer. Read the reviews and see for yourself -- less than a 2% satisfaction rate! Woot should consider getting rid of this vendor on their site.

I've ordered from them and faced the dreaded backorder you are describing. I think I got the complete series of Cowboy Bebop for like $20 but it took like 3 weeks because they sold out and it was backordered. I did get the product as described though for a good value.

I've been ordering from them off and on since when they had separate CD and DVD sites. Haven't had a problem.

Every now and again, I'll find things I've ordered aren't currently in stock (as are two of the three items I ordered during their 25% off sale), but my credit card isn't charged until they do ship.

I guess if you absolutely need something sooner rather than later, spend the extra coupla bucks and get it from Amazon or someplace you know it's gonna be in stock before you order it.

One small gripe...they must now have a warehouse here in California, because for a long time I didn't have to pay sales tax.

Just my 2¢.

I was wondering why this company name sounded so familiar.. They wanted us to do business with them back in the day (Never did).. They don't really have anything in stock, their business model is to offer up excess or old merchandise from other retailers. When an order is placed they will forward that order to the retailer similar to drop shipping and then take a cut of the deal.. So you could have a great experience or terrible experience depending on where the merchandise is coming from... Similar to Amazon marketplace.

Rephrased question to, uh, a question.

After being on hold for 20+ min, I finally talked to a rep. Paypal made an error. Deep Discount said I should recieve my order by the 21st. It arrived yesterday. After this experience, I don't think i will be using Deep Discount again.

vote-for1vote-against

Never had a problem with them. Though I note the prices aren't as fantastic as they used to be.

vote-for2vote-against

used em about 5 times. everytime, shipping was slow, but that was expected. Merchandise was exactly as described when it arrived.
I'd rate them an A or A-

@kamikazeken: Same here. Shipping slow, but otherwise fine.

Order was made aug 23, it is now sept 8....WHERE IS MY BOOK?!

I just got a D on an exam because I had no book to study from. I just receieved an email saying THEY ARE JUST NOW SENDING IT and i have to wait ANOTHER 5-10 business days!!!

WORST SITE EVER! LETS MAKE A FACEBOOK GROUP TO SHUT THEM DOWN FOR GOOD BEFORE MORE STUDENTS ARE F*D OVER LOOKING FOR A GOOD PRICE ON TEXTBOOKS.

COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!

On 12/6 I bought a book for a friend's Christmas present. On 12/13 I received an email that my purchase had been backordered. On 12/14 I received a 3rd email that said my order was cancelled due to an inability to authorize my credit card. When I check my credit activity it still shows a hold from DeepDiscount for the full purchase price. That same day I sent an email to them explaining my frustration and that they had my money already, and I did not have the funds to pay them twice for the same product. They replied the next day that my order was cancelled, because they could not authorize my credit card. He did not address anything I said in my e-mail. He told me to buy the item again. I asked for a customer service number. When I called I was told much the same thing. It's not right for them to take someone's money without providing something in return. Now I have a friend that isn't getting something for Christmas, because I don't have any money left after they took it.

AVOID DeepDiscount.com at all costs. They have over 1 million complaints on some website I checked weeks ago.

They cheat you, send you wrong things. If you order part 3 of a series, the box will be labeled Part 3 but it contains part 2, etc.

If you pay by credit card and get taken by them, contact your credit card company's bank. They WILL get your money back even if it's a year later.

AVOID DeepDiscount.com. Go to Amazon, com. MUCH, MUCH BETTER and they guarantee your money back.
