Have you tried to return an item to Newegg recently?
I don't know what changed, but NewEggs return/exchange procedures have really gone downhill. If I receive a DOA item from Buy.com/Amazon.com I get a printable RMA on the spot and they even ship out the next day and give me 30 days to return the DOA item.
Newegg apparently has you file a "claim" and in 5-7 business days you receive a response of either: "Approved", or "Denied". This is the most off the wall procedure I have ever heard of for a return.
basically I had received my copy of Battlefield 3: LE (Xbox 360) yesterday and the game was shipped in an envelope and the video game box was crushed to the point where it would not close on any corner. Still sealed but just torn up beyond belief.
The Live Chat customer rep was also snippy with me when I asked if there was any way to expedite the claim, as I'd really like to play the game..
Have you had any similar experiences to Newegg? or any other company? I for one don't think I will be ordering anymore games from Newegg.

I've been reading feedback on Newegg the last several months and you are correct in that their return policy has generated some very negative reviews. Lot's of people are taking their business elsewhere. Not sure what is going on with them. It's unsettling.
I have 4 items I am specifically looking for in the next 6 weeks: a high end video card, a laptop, a logitech k800 and the Vulcan Phantom speaker. That's about 1k in goods right there. I would rather pay perhaps a little more at Amazon and have a solid return policy than a hassle. Newegg should take note of this to avoid a Netflix like exodus.
I ordered an item and then called to cancel the order later that day. The item shipped that evening anyway. I called when I received it and they promptly gave me a RMA with free shipping label since I had called to cancel initially. I have not received the refund yet, but it seems to be pretty promising.
Coincidentally, my order was a video game also and it was sent in a thin cardboard type envelope which allowed the box to get crushed around the edges, so they really ought to work on their packaging skills.
This doesn't necessarily apply to your question, but I pre-ordered Battlefield 3 from Amazon and my case was crushed/cracked too. It's not as bad as yours sounds like, but I wonder if there was an issue with Battlefield 3 case quality, etc.
I stopped ordering things from Newegg a few years ago. It wasn't any one thing they did that made me stop, but a few things. First off, I bought something from them and it was misrepresented by them. I called to return it, received an RMA, I PAID to have it shipped back to them, then THEY CHARGED ME a 15% restocking fee. I argued with them over it but never did get a refund of the charge or return shipping. THEN I found out that Amazon sells all the same stuff for comparable prices. I haven't ordered from Newegg since
I've had similar problems with Newegg and thus they don't get my business unless they are significantly cheaper than anywhere else. Kinda sad when bestbuy stop price matching them.
I got dance central 2 from Amazon with a cracked case. I just said eh no big deal but it does suck when they come crushed.
I bought a micro SD card recently that did not work from Newegg. I got the emailed rma, sent it in, and in 2 days they shipped the replacement. They have always been quick for me. Their return policy was never what Amazon's is. However, they are more business tech sales oriented. Their return policy reflects that.
I actually had a really good experience with NewEgg's customer service. I had an OCZ SSD just suddenly stop working after 5 months, which is apparently pretty common with that particular model. I called OCZ first and they would not give me a refund. They just wanted to replace my POS with a "new" POS. I called NewEgg (key word being called, not emailed or chatted) and they allowed me to return the drive for store credit, which I used to buy a much better SSD. They said it was a one time exception, but its nice to know that they are willing to be flexible with their return policies, since I was over 4 months out of their normal policy coverage.
I've had mixed results with Newegg.
The worst was when they shipped something to me that did not match the item ordered, and then argued with me that it was a functionally equivalent item. I didn't want something that was a substitute, I wanted the item I ordered...both for the brand name, and for the physical appearance.
I had to open a dispute with my credit card company before Newegg would agree to allow me to return the item, and then they got a bit testy with me about the dispute.
But, I have to say that I've had issues with other companies, too, not just Newegg.
And I never do business with Amazon.com, which means I haven't ordered much from Woot! recently, because of my aversion to Amazon.com.
