"You no can has MY offal box!"

@debbiedunlap: You just made my weekend. :-D
Whatever's inside the box can't be any more fun than that picture. I don't know what it is about cats and boxes, but I'd suggest starting over with a new one when you send it on. That one looks like it's been claimed in any case.
@debbiedunlap: Well now that box doesn't look to be in too bad of condition. Yes it has to be replaced, but when I read broken up I was thinking "BROKEN UP"
@hobbit: Exactly, I was thinking pieces of Woot.
Beautiful kitteh, what's its name?
@debbiedunlap: Nice kittie.
Am I the only one with a gigantic dog?
Just popping in to say HI and to help push this to the popular side. Congrats on receiving the box.
@shrdlu: Glad I made your weekend, because the box made mine!
@hobbit: By the time I'd gotten to the post office, they'd taped it all up for me. I don't think there is one square inch of the outside of this not-so-square, lumpy box not covered with tape!
@jazcat: Skeeter, but I just call her Kitten. She doesn't deign to answer to either of those names unless food is involved.
@theoneill555: We have a Black Lab, Corgi mix. Black Lab body. Corgi legs. Ridiculous-looking, loyal little fellow.
[Edit: Dog is a pound puppy. My husband said, "Who would throw away a perfectly good dog?!"
I can has THIS!!
http://www.debbiedunlap.com/offal/icanhasthis.jpg
@debbiedunlap: Oh lord, that's an antique top (okay, pretending to be antique, since I knew the maker of it). That top was a good time (apparently the cat and I share the same easily entertained quality).
BTW, the 4th amendment tape on that box is all mine. It started out with a lot of tape. You just can't use too much tape, especially when it says stuff.
@theoneill555: I have a big dog, not huge though. He is a 72 pound Boxer.
@debbiedunlap: I'm so excited for you! What a pretty kitty you have.
I can never gauge how much activity is enough. Luckily the algorithm that checks for activity is unable to decide whether I'm making a pointless comment in order to help this to popularity, or actually saying something useful.
I'm all out of useful, so this will have to do.
Awesome!!! I didn't think it was supposed to be there until Monday. I'm really excited to see what you keep. PS: I told you the box was HEAVY and HUGE!!!

@maisyday: The old box gave its life toting and shielding our offal from the abuse of postal workers. I've acquired a new, equally gigantic box to bravely continue the offal journey. (I have LOTS of goodies to pack into it. My husband and daughter found a few offerings, as well.) I plan on getting it in the mail on Monday.
I think the new box looks proud and nobel. It knows its importance - carrying offal safely to the next victim, no matter how awful conditions and contents may be.

That box sure is a helluva lot bigger than when it started! That's awesome! :)
@debbiedunlap: Did you check the contents of the Sansa? Also, I'm happy to see the shirt found a good home. :-P
@claudicina: I just finished loading the box ... to the brim. It must weigh close to 30 lbs now! Yes, it's still heavily loaded even after I eagerly grabbed so much of @unclefrog's loot. I had to take a lot so that I could fit my own contributions in the box. My husband's going to have to go with me to the post office!
@unclefrog: When I saw the Woot! song on the Sansa, I knew right away that it was functional. :) Oh, and the Guns and Roses goes great with my A Cappella music!!
And I love the shirt!
This was officially the most fun I've had in quite awhile. My entire family had a BLAST going through it all. It was like a super wacky Christmas in September.
@maisyday is going to blow a cork when it arrives on her doorstep!
@theoneill555: I also have what I consider a giant dog. Gus is a 90 lb Lab-Rottie-Shepherd mix. I sometimes forget how big he is since he is just goofy Gus to me. He is so friendly and goofy I cannot figure out (and neither can he) why some people are a little concerned when he comes running over to them. You'd think the tennis ball in the mouth and waggling tail would calm their fears but I guess not.
What kind of dog do you have?
@debbiedunlap Your husband is totally right about the dog. And I am glad you found some great crap in the box.
@jazcat: All the forums have LOLcats and I was getting worried. Now that I know that you, @faughtey, and @debbiedunlap all have woofs, I am so relieved. We have a 100lb black lab / mystery mutt. The vet thinks his daddy might be Great Dane as he has the height and stance of one. His name is Goliath but his personality belongs to a Goober (Goob is his nickname). I love big goofy dogs.
@debbiedunlap: If we weren't on opposite sides of the county I would loan you my boys, so they could help you carry that huge box.
We need to set up another list, I need to vindicate myself for not loading up the Track #2 launch box.
@shrdlu: As my kids would explain presents they've wrapped: "Wrapped with tape and lots of love." I love these photos!
@theoneill555: hey, we're swapping lists when the boxes come back to the original shippers, aren't we? I need to start collecting GOOD stuff for it this time.
@lavikinga: YES, YES, YES!
I'm in for sure.
@lavikinga: D'OH, forgot we were going to swap lists. Sent you a PM.
@debbiedunlap: I'll be looking for it! I have my pile ready to be added to the box, can't wait to see what's in it for me!
@TheGiant42: Sent you a PM, need to get your address to keep the box moving along!
Okay, so I'm gonna go out on a limb, be the annoying n00b, and ask : What is this "Offal"? How did it get started and how does it work? Better yet, how does anyone get on the "mailing list"?
If your dog is incredibly dense it could weigh a lot and yet not be very large.
(My biggest dog is 90#. She's an Australian Cattle Dog mix.)
@marcoselmalo: Our dog's pretty dense, but he doesn't weigh a lot. :P
@grasshopperjonez: @lavikinga will probably better answer your question tomorrow, but here's a short answer.
A few months ago several of the Deals community thought it would be fun to create our own traveling box of crap. Enough people wanted to participate that we ended up with two lists and two originating boxes. @lavikinga and @theoneill555 sent out the original two boxes filled with whatever offal they had around the house. Those boxes were mailed to the next person on their lists. Any recipient can keep whatever crap they like from their box, then add their own offal bits, and mail it to the next person on their list. It's been grand fun.
@grasshopperjonez: We've tried to limit the first two lists to people who have been steady participants here on Deals. I hate to use the word "trustworthy" but that really IS the gist of it.
You see, @theoneill555 and I invested a bit of time, trust and money getting the boxes rolling. We crossed our fingers that all participants would be honest and faithfully keep the chain unbroken. We've only had one hiccup between all the players so far and @theflounder was kind enough to gather things from her briny deep and jump start Offal #1 again.
Once the boxes return to their original starting points, I'll put up a notice to see if the two "teams" want to continue playing. If we have enough player, Offal #1 will be sent to folks on Offal #2's list and and Offal #2 will continue on to the #1 players.
If we have a large enough group of new players, it's possible we'll have one of them man up and start the Offal #3 box.
@Hobbit: Do happen to remember the original thread with @claudicina where I offered to send him a box of crap of his very own? I thought I had it bookmarked :( We didn't have staff retro-tag it as Offal #1. If we did, I can't find it.
@lavikinga: I am not @hobbit but I have all the Offal bookmarked. Here is @claudicina's "SO done with mystery boxes" -
@lavikinga: I was going to say no, but theoneill555 got it for you. Wasn't it the first post, the one that started all of this?
@theoneill555: YEAH! Thank you.
@hobbit: Yup, that was the seeding of the perfectly awful Offal idea.
The tags have been added to the mystery box, so it will show up in the searches now.
@faughtey: Thank you.
@faughtey: Baby, you're the greatest!
@maisyday: Just got back from the post office ... 40.6 lbs of crap is in the mail!
@debbiedunlap: Holy CRAP! I have to ask about the shipping cost. How much? And did you insure it, put tracking, etc., or did you just leave it to the Offal gods?
@lavikinga: Fortunately, @maisyday doesn't live too terribly far from me, so the postage was less than $20. And yes, it is a whole lot of crap!!
No tracking. No insurance. It is crap, after all!!
@debbiedunlap: Looking forward to it!
@thegiant42: Check your PMs...still need your address! Thanks!
@debbiedunlap: OMG, 40 lbs, wow! We are going to have to move to a wooden crate pretty soon, the cardboard won't be strong enough to hold all the crap.
I wonder, has someone has been putting some leftover concrete blocks in the box?
@jazcat: What can I say ... I had a lot of crap laying around my house, and now I don't! To be fair, I'd say that @theflounder and @unclefrog must be able to say the same. The box was gigantic, heavy and full when I got it.
Repacking the box was a real bear. It takes craptastic skills to pack 40 lbs of offal into a box that can realistically only hold 30.
@maisyday: Sorry for the delay been busy, what with work and school I have not checked back as often as i should have. Sorry.
Now to find more crap.......
@theoneill555: Please check your PM.
I've been slowly gathering stuff each week as the line moves closer and packing them into another big box (I got plenty of boxes right?) So far the box is over 40lbs (USPS limit per box is 50 before you hit oversize rates) So @lavikinga: is in for a surprise, especially once I add in whatever I don't want from the box when it gets to me (If I have to is it going tobe ok to send 2 boxes? You know in case I hit that 50lb limit and don't want to pay oversize rates?)
@bkindustries: Use a shoe horn and sweet talk the stuff into the box!
@auggie24: I sent sent you a pm. Get back to me soon please. Thank you.
For such a slow start, it's very pleasant to see this off in such a speedy manner.
http://deals.woot.com/questions/details/4a033bdb-97de-4f51-a7bb-43f195005835/its-mine-all-mine
Yep. It's already arrived at @maisyday's house. @auggie24 and @thegiant42 better be prepared. It sounds like it's getting bigger all the time. Next thing you know, we'll be needing a special truck, which I suppose will need to be supplied by Waste Management (it's offal, after all).
@shrdlu: It has arrived, been picked through and repacked, and is already on its way to @thegiant42!
