Does Amazon.com send free items from your wish list?
My wife and I buy alot of stuff from Amazon.com, primarily baby stuff since were having our first child at the end of the month. My wife also likes to feel as if it's Christmas every other day with packages showing up at the front door.
Ok enough with the rant, we have stuff on our wish list and we added a beach cabana/beach shade for when we can take the little one to the beach. Two days later(since we have Prime), it showed up! We both checked our accounts and it doesn't show in our order history and we weren't charged. It is still on our wish list.
Has anyone had this experience? Amazon being nice with a freebie? Error?

I've been on Amazon since 1997, had a wish list since 2004 and have been a prime member since they came out with it and I have never had this happen. I'm guessing a friend of yours must have bought it for you and didn't leave a gift receipt to tell you who it was from.
Never had that happen either. Cool, though! Congrats on your baby!
@meh3884: Thank you!
@tippypaws: Interesting...thanks!
Oh, yeah..one of their employees, I think he goes by Jumbozon or something likes to spread love and cheer by sending out freebies from people's wish-lists. Ok, I'm kidding, but what happened to you is awesome, and thus, I just added an overly large television to my amazon wish-list. Hey, there's always hope...
I've had this happen, but it's always been a friend who has forgotten to tell me about the order. Or once a secret admirer...
@oo7slice: hope you get it buddy!
I haven't heard of this, but I think I'm going to start a wishlist now.
Never had this happen either. So happy to hear a Wooter Jr is headed our way! Congratulations! Ill be on the lookout for pampers codes for ya!
People can buy you things from your wishlist. Maybe there was a gift message enclosed or the giver forgot to check the gift message option?
@mommyleah: Thank you!
@90mcg112: No gift message...
If Amazon was to send you an item from your wishlist, they'd probably tell you about it.
Someone probably saw it on your wishlist and bought it for you. If you click the item on your wishlist, it may tell you that "Someone may have already purchased this for you."
So now you know that your list is Public. Might want to consider if you're adding things like the new KY Couples intimate moments lotion, or personal creams & potions, OR you might want to set up an additional private list.
Speaking of Christmas, making a public Christmas list for the baby might be an idea this coming Christmas. It will save you & the families so much time knowing they can select something ideal from the list for the baby and not worry about it being a duplicate gift.
@curli76: just checked the wish list page and items purchased from it and its not listed, only items my wife and I purchased...the mystery continues!
@lavikinga: Good idea, thanks!
Another story of Amazon that happened a few weeks back...my wife purchased some Space Bags for storage for the larger size baby clothes, and she had purchased the wrong size, went to do a return and instead of doing the usual prepaid label for it came up with: "No need for return, it's on us..." They were cheap, around $8-9 so no loss to them, shipping was probably more expensive for the return..Made us believe that they were just being generous with the wish list..
@matthalbig: This is a fairly common practice with online sellers. Especially with items shipped and sold by Amazon, they'll often just tell you to keep the original shipment since it would probably cost them more in shipping and handling to get it back from you.
I ordered something fragile over the holidays and it kept showing up broken - the company tried 3 times to get me a whole one, but no go. At no point did I have to return the broken ones, even though they were pretty darn expensive.
hey amazon a new computer would be AWESOME!
though prime by itself is pretty good too :)
One thing you might want to check: Go to your wishlist and click manage this list. In there you'll find a checkbox labelled "Don't Spoil My Surprises" If you uncheck it, it will remove things from your list if someone has purchased them for you through your list. If they just went and found the product/purchased it manually, it won't go away though. Just a thought.
