Monday, April 16. The Anti-Rant Thread!
Since we've got a ranty rant thread, feel free to post positive things here. :)
I'll start. This weekend's weather was beautiful, I got to spend time with some friends and catch up, I went to go see a good local art group perform, Cabin in the Woods is finally out so I can talk spoilers with everyone, tax day is nearly past so everyone can be less sad and angry, and Pemberducky's juicer thread has got me excited for the farmer's market starting again.
Also, WOOT TURNTABLE MONDAY.
Your turn!
Farmers' Markets are awesome. Got to spend the weekend with my granddaughter, which was awesome. About to take my dogs for an awesome walk. Awesome thread by the way.
In case you folks missed it, I am gearing up for an awesome day....
It's a spectacular day here! I love my husband, love my job, my sons are happy and healthy...living the dream :-)
I'm seeing today as mostly pretty awesome, has to be because it can't get too much worse than yesterday. (that is a topic for another thread though)
I know that is not really the best reason to see today as great, but it is the starting block for today... I'll see how it goes after a couple hours.
We saw a great Indonesian action film (Raid: The Redemption)on Friday, I had decent sales at my art booth on Saturday morning, an enjoyable dinner party with friends on Saturday evening, got the house clean on Sunday morning, and pizza and good friends over for gaming Sunday night. I have a big package of leftover homemade dolmades with tzatziki sauce and a big pot of homemade hummus with lavash to eat my way through this week.
A group of my friends picks an ethnic cuisine around which to center a monthly dinner party. February was Cajun and Creole cuisine to celebrate Mardi Gras. In March it was Irish food to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. April was Mediterranean food to welcome spring. May will be Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo.
I woke up on this side of the dirt again, another bonus day. There are green things poking out of the ground and I've actually seen a Crocus and a few Daffodils.
I pooped 3 times this morning and feel like a new man! Hooray for coffee!
Seattle weather was beautiful this weekend, the Sounders won, the Penguins got demolished, there is moar hockey on today, and I took the day off from work :)
Went to the World Beer Festival on Saturday, spent my birthday (yesterday) with friends. All in all an awesome weekend.
My company pulled all its remote employees in for a meeting at lunch time today. Free pizza for everybody in the company!
I just perfected my recipe for coconut base ice cream, this time with whole blueberries, banana, and white chocolate! I'm pretty sure it tastes just like heaven.
@lobstrain: Happy Birthday!!!!!
Got some cleaning that I've needed to do done this weekend, plus I (mostly) tuned up my bike and got in a short ten mile ride. I still have to restring the rear wheel, but it is almost true and totally useable for now.
Today, it is totally beautiful (almost hot) and I rode my bike to work for the first time this year.
Later today, we are going out for wings and beer after work and I'll get to see some people that I haven't seen for a long time.
In less than 3 weeks I will be graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Marketing!
A couple weeks later I will marry the love of my life on a destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
A couple months later I will begin my job.
Life is good!!
We should have threads like this more often great way to start my afternoon.
I am happy to be alive & healthy as well as my family and friends.
Love my job, a little over a month then I have the summer off (I teach)
Hope every one has a great rest of the week.
We're taking our 1 year old and 3 year old to Disney World in 3 weeks and it's going to be amazing. My sister is coming along to lend a hand, and although it's going to be a crazy 4 days I am stoked about it. Really feeling blessed that we are in a financial situation that allows us to do this without fully breaking the bank.
Also got 2 more boxes built and filled for the wife's garden over the weekend. Feeling like a useful husband is the best.
After starting the season on the road with a 1-5 win-loss record, the Sox opened at home this weekend w/ 3 wins agains the Rays. :)
the lilacs smell amazing today after the fresh snowfall yesterday. cut enough for three vases full and have them around the house.
I wish you all a fantastic afternoon!
@pamfenway: As a Rays fan, I won't complain here in this thread since it would be inappropriate. However, I am happy we beat the Yankees. I'm sure you would agree to that one.
@wnyx585am: If it makes you feel any better, the Rays just beat the Sox 1-0. And, of course, Sox fans are always happy when any team beats the Yanks. ;)
@pamfenway: Wow, this really is a positive thread! I'll take what I can get!
Oops, I'm in the wrong place. I thought this was the anti-rent demonstration. Gee, I even made protest signs.
Well, anyway, it's a beautiful anti-tornado day in Kansas!
@lobstrain: My birthday also!
Great day, friends BBQed tri-tip, silly games, Guinness Black Lager, brownies. (great weekend, actually)
Oh yeah, I like turtles!

A friend of mine just finished the Boston Marathon. Now, there is no way in <:-| that I will ever even consider running for 40 KM straight, but now I can feel the joy vicariously. AND the sun is shining.
This is a wonderful day here in South/Central Texas.
-It's cool and sunny outside.
-The San Antonio Spurs are having a great year in the NBA
-I'm getting a nice, fat tax refund
-And I just passed a monster math test (Business Algebra) Two down, two to go.
@rlapid2112: Tax day birthdays ftw!
I did my taxes that I have been dreading since January because i just KNEW I would owe money. I got a refund.... almost a grand.... thought I would spend some of it on WOOT!
Life is good!
@zeke7: Congratulations! And well done on the degrees.
For me?
I had two Woot deliveries today. How could it be any better? :) Well, and still cancer free. That's a good thing.
LIFE IS WONDERFUL. I am married to the love of my life. I adopted a doggy from the Humane Society. My mother-in-law beat cancer. I returned to college at 40 years old and graduate in two weeks. I am accepted to three colleges for Grad School.
The last few years I have achieved dreams I thought I never could achieve.
i work with some awesome folks.
Someone brought a huge herkin' tub of homemade macaroni salad to work to share with everyone today. It was omnomlicious.
@luvche21: Care to share the recipe?
I get to see my son daily, alot of guys I know don't get to see their kids reguarly which is crazy to me. I couldnt imagine my life without my little man!
Woke up on the green side of the grass! The North Florida sun was shining, the temp was reasonable, and the humidity is still low. And now, at nearly 8pm, there's a nice little breeze outside. Spouse and I are both employed in fairly good jobs, the dogs still worship us, my son and DIL are still crazy in love, and no one is too financially stressed. Life is great!
Wow!! Love a happy place... Going to Savannah Wednesday to meet up with family on their way north. Haven't been there since '82.
Everyone have a wonderful week.
